One of the most beautiful places in Alabama. The fishing is great, but I love the bird population. There are many different herons and the most beautiful bald eagles.

Nice, as always. Caught a few catfish. All in all, a very pleasant way to spend a morning. Only wish they had camping sites.

It is beautiful. Lake is well stocked. Great day trip from anywhere in north Alabama. There are old flat bottom aluminum boats available for rent. Adding an electric trolling motor, a battery, & life jackets will cost $25 for all day. There is a bait shop and rest rooms. Camp site as well. If you take your own kayak or canoe, you must fish--NO SIGHT SEEING CRUISES. Staff was friendly. Hours of Operation: Open sunrise to sunset: February 1 - Tuesday before Thanksgiving: Open six days each week. Closed Wednesdays. Friday after Thanksgiving - January 31: The lake is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except Christmas and New Years Day; and trout fishing is available for a $5 daily permit. (Fishing for rainbow trout begins the day after Thanksgiving, and trout are stocked again in December and in January. Fishing license requirements apply in addition to the daily Madison County Lake permit).
