Surprised by the high overall rating. A year or two back I had a similar experience to many of the low reviews. I took in a pair of very well loved, high end, leather combat style boots that had sat in storage for a few years. They needed new soles and insoles, and a good cleaning. The quoted price was just under $100 but I bit the bullet and didn't ask for any kind of rush. I came back in something like 3 or 4 weeks to pick up, super excited so put them on right away! The width of one shoe's sole, and therefore the whole toe area, was a full half inch wider and visibly noticeable. We had also discussed doing a rubber instead of the original wood sole, for better traction. They used a smooth dress shoe style rubber sole, with no more traction than the wood...and definitely not right for a combat boot. The insoles were not trimmed right but already glued in. Did I mention there was also still a clump of spider cobweb in the buckle?! So much for the good cleaning. Shocked that they considered this acceptable I gave them another couple weeks to correct. When I came back, the widths were now about 1/4" different, but he insisted that was the best they could do. The insoles weren't fixed and the cobweb was still there. I sat and waited while he "fixed" the insoles (now they are over-trimmed and dont cover the whole footbed) and removed the cobweb. I begrudgingly paid just to be done with it, but they are very uncomfortable now (weird lumpiness under the insole), the soles are super stiff and the uneven widths and roominess between each foot really trigger my OCD. Ultimately, I paid a ridiculous amount (Ive had the same work done many times in the pricey Bay Area, CA for half the cost...I LIVE in my boots) just to make them completely unwearable. I don't think I could even sell them for half the price of the "repairs", like this.

Brought in my favorite pair of booties to be fix (a seam down the side started unraveling). I stopped in thinking I would drop them off and see them in week. Nope! The gentleman said "hang tight" and he fixed them right then and there! Also, super convenient with easy parking! If I ever have a pair of shoes that needs to be repaired again, I will absolutely head straight to Peabody!

Dropped off 2 identical pairs of shoes to be cleaned & polished. The cost was $25/ pair and whenever I picked up the shoes they looked the same as when I dropped them off. Nice enough folks here and I love supporting grassroots places like this. Wish it had worked out differently.

Peabody Shoe Repair does it right. Resole for Alaskan winter. I found this shop on facebook. we messaged back and forth on the details of the repair and price. The total time for repair and shipping from Alaska to Tennessee and back was about three weeks, very quick. I’m pleased with their work, service, and price. Thank you. I already have any pair to resole with the Vibram tread.
