Great view of down town on certain nights you can see lightning in the distance over the ocean

CLOSED. This has been closed for weeks for no good reason. The only reason I can see is a large water hose is hooked up that crosses over the road. So they closed it. A loss of much parking space.

Sadly Large Loop road, South of Chess Club building is not good. Bathroom on that road has been closed for years, and Northern Bathroom at intersection becomes overly busy, many unhoused/homeless, and regularly dirty. Unhoused/homeless need alternative bathrooms, and SafeZone parking also! I came in the evening/night and it was very lonely and quiet. Generally beautiful area, lots of parking when road & parking lots open. Much picnic and rest areas, lots of paths and trails too!! Hope more help will come to this area soon, as it is so close to SO much residents and housing.

A good spot to park for FREE when accessing downtown San Diego. The walk from here is less than 1 mile to the heart of downtown. There are many homeless people milling around in 2017, but the views are still pretty good perched up on this point and I haven't felt unsafe here during the day yet. Many people jog and walk their dogs here while the jets come in for landings at Lindburgh Field (SAN) Airport. Sunsets can be breathtaking at times.

The park is open 24 hours,, the gate to get down to Marston Point parking area is locked around 10pm. In the morning, before the gate is opened they normally go around and ticket cars that are still there. You are able to leave after the gate is locked since you do not exit by going back the same way you came in. Didn't I just answer this a week ago?
