Visited The Walnut Room for Christmas in July. It was a beautiful experience they never disappoint. Had the meatloaf, amazing! Also, a Poinsettia :) Our server Jose took great care of us. He was very attentive to us and got everything right. Way to go Walnut Room, great employee! We already made our reservation for Christmas dinner when leaving today. Below is a picture of my dinner if you haven't tried it's a must!!!

Having lived in several major cities where Macy's has taken over grand old department store buildings, I can say when Macy's shows up, you can pretty much accept the fact that an era has ended. I see some glowing reviews here, perhaps coming from people that don't realize what "used to be". This is true of the State St. Chicago location (as well as the Wanamaker building in Philadelphia). I unfortunately never got to visit Marshall Field's prior to the change. I did visit the new Macy's not too long after the take over. At that time, the store still felt kinda festive, but I could tell some of the grandeur was already gone. Now, in 2022, the store is but a whisper of what it once was. Granted, Covid played a big part...and traffic in the store still isn't back up to "exciting" yet. I have some ideas about what's going on. I don't think the location is a destination as it once was for city dwellers. Because downtown is changing rapidly, there also isn't the type of foot traffic there once was, from people converging on the loop for work. So a lot of the customers are visitors, or maybe residents who happen to have made the trip down. Retail is also quickly changing, and the department store as an icon is dwindling. But a lot of it has to do with Macy's itself. I happened to work at the Herald Square location in the 80s and THAT was still an exciting place (not so much anymore). I also worked for Macy's again in the early 2000s in King of Prussia, PA. That's when I realized how bland the company had gotten. Presentation, the type of employees, and general atmosphere all have gone to pot. At State St. even, once you leave the main floor, some of the employees are dressed like they're going to a picnic, not selling "finer retail". Plus, Macy's pretty much stretched themselves too thin, placing multiple stores within short distances. The Water Tower/Michigan Ave. store has had to close. That being said...the building as an architectural feature is still amazing. Please do some reading about the history of Marshall Field's and the eventual residency of the store in this location. Do take time to view the amazing "Tiffany Dome" that was designed by Tiffany himself. And yes...they still have a "bargain basement" where you can find incredible markdowns, although it's on the 2nd floor (well, men's is). AND...one of the few stores that still has an extensive candy dept!!! I will say that Macy's also is one of the only chains that WILL put in good effort to decorate for Christmas...

Always fun going through Macy's at Christmas time. 2 Starbucks, a food court, hot toddies, what more could a guy ask for when the spouse is shopping lol. There is plenty for guys to look at and browse too, I found some good bargains. If you want to eat in the Walnut room or see Santa, make sure you have reservations. It is close to so much more downtown.

This is one of those stores that just leaves you speechless with its grandiousness and historic architecture. I loved roaming through the stories, discovering a fantastic offering of clothes, sweets, perfumes...anything you need, Macy's has it. They had great discounts, from 50-60% off the MSRP. It is a great aesthetic and shopping experience. Love Macy's!

They sell Lladro but I don't they have a section just for Lladro.
At this time of year, I'm sure you can find them on clearance
Macy's does not take reservations at Christmas time. Arrive early, grab a buzzer, and do some shopping. The wait may be one to two hours.
Doesn't look to be but make calls
I have no idea I purchase online and sometimes I go pickup. Haven't tried on anything since pandemic.
Yes
Yes. We are open. Everything except for food. We are dedicated to keeping everyone safe. We clean and wipe down everything all day long. We are wearing masks and require our customers to do the same. Welcome back and happy shopping!
It might be open already but I think you will only be able to buy the stuff for yourself but I'm not sure.
Yes
Macy's is the owner and operates it as one of the company's four flagship stores.
Yes. The suit salesman with show you the availability for your size.
Yes! Passing all the other ethnic Santas had me confused as a child but just ask for Black Santa. He was there last year.
Pierce Anderson. Here's more about Marshall Fields historic store that is now Macy's: https://www.visitmacysusa.com/article/fascinating-history-macys-state-str
Yes, but you have to call in advance. He is not there daily.
Why
Get a hammer and a chisel and get rid of it yourself. Happened time before
Etsy's ,Crocheted Men's Slippers Are Available Online Now....
Give Macy's customer service a call and tell them about your situation.
You'll need to park off Wabash or Randolph in garage parking.
I have no idea but you should make it a trip in the loop L train and it's more convenient
Contact the store directly. Services vary by location.
I am Not sure what are the hours at the Walnut Room.
safety practices are what you would expect. Masks, hand sanitiing stations throughout, associates sanitize the items they can after shoppers try on or touch. I. E. Sunglasses, perfume testers, jewelry, etc. CDC health reminders posted, no make-up application. They are doing a good job considering they can't possibly sanitize everything in the store all day.
I have not seen Miele brand at Macy's stores and did not see it on a quick online search. ABT electronics and evacuum.com may be an option.
Theres Christmas decorations on the 7th floor, the floor where the Tree is. Theres also ornaments on other floors you'll see from the escalator.
I think Macy's is a publicly owned company. If you buy some of Macy's stock you too will become an owner. Then all you'll need is an email address. Hey, don't forget: if you want to change the world start within yourself. Those who seek you are forgiven.
Yes, getting things together
It might be but I'm not really sure
There is parking directly in front of Macy's in a garage. It was free to me as a part of a package deal having breakfast with Santa, but most people pay to park.
No you can park in the Macy's garage without buying something from the store.
I don't believe there at the Marshall fields in Chicago anymore cause as u know the name changed and so did the items. I loved those as a little girl too lol
no there is not you can either park at the garage near by for 1st hour is between $20-$25 and for a full day it could go up to between $30-$51, I recommend doing this that way you have the whole day to walk around there are many many stores to go to as well as many restaurants. you can also walk to the beam. Now the other option would be to find parking in the street and pay the meter fee, you can pay the meter every I believe 4 hours its $.1.00 for 15 min so $4 for 1 hour. happy shopping ✌
I'm sure they do.
Huh
Use spot hero or park wiz
Store manager
I don't know that they have the actual store in there, but there is a designated toy area as well as various toys spread out throughout the store.
On Randolph across the street from Macy's is a parking garage and Macy's as an arrangement with the garage so there is a discount
Yes, plus they have multiple flavors and various scenic pics of Chicago area on the boxes. These mints are located near the food court on the top floor.
Yes

Yes
It was my first time and yes throughout. Also when I went they were giving away flowers but I went right as it was closing so apparently ran out of flowers to make your own bouquets and still let is pick through what was left.
I think you should call there. Those who answer here are not people from the store itself.
Midday
Santa is on the 5th floor everyday till Christmas starting at 10AM. However, on Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's there is a Santa breakfast starting at 9AM. Only one more weekend left for the Santa breakfast.
30% friends and family is ending, but more sales are coming up now.
I'm not sure but just go to website or phone
I'm almost sure that they do
No validation. Park where you can

They have a great toy selection but you would need to call.

Yes. The same thing is happening for me. No response from the menu when dialing option 2 to reach the store.
Yes, they've got a huge number of childrens, womens, and mens clothing lines. Several floors worth, in fact!

There's a sports bar there named Infield's on the lower level.
I am 75% sure they may offer valet service on the randolf street entrance
No clue ... Sorry
Not sure
The best place to view the Christmas Tree in the Walnut Room is to go up to the 8th floor. There is a platform to take photos with your own phone or camera of yourself, family or friends with in front of the Christmas Tree.
They should be setting up the tree up soon
Looking forwar to the kick off of the holiday season.
Darlene, there should be a 800 number on the back of your card, or you could go into any Macy's retailer and pay it at any of the terminals there I hope that helps.
Valet parking for two hours $16.
Yes
