This shop is one of the most amazing places. I didn't ha e work done, but received a great tour of their facilities.

Friendly management and staff. Superb workmanship. They can simply bring a favorite vehicle back to life, or take a vehicle from a "project" to a Concours winner, depending on your vision and budget. Always on Sports Car Market's "best restoration shop" list. Superb craftsmanship sums it up perfectly.

I have used Joe Potter and Vintage Underground for three major and many minor restorations of complicated vintage cars and motorcycles, as well as for mechanical and cosmetic repairs over the past six years. They have always outperformed expectations and I have learned to trust them completely with all aspects of vintage car research, diagnosis, repair, and restoration--as well as show presentation and racetrack preparation. I have had cars on the lawn at Pebble Beach six times and would wholeheartedly trust them to get me there a seventh.

I'm proud to say that I had the pleasure and the privilege of working for Joe at Vintage Underground before moving into a new career field. Having been away from the business for quite some time now, I feel I can share a unique, honest perspective. To be frank: You simply will not find a more genuine, passionate, or attentive person to trust with your restoration project, vintage vehicle maintenance, or coach building project. The team Joe has assembled mirror his qualities while adding their own talents and specialized skills. My advice if you are considering their services is this: 1. Listen to Joe and his team. They know what they're talking about, they will give you sound advice, and if they're not 100% sure, they'll do the proper research to get solid answers. 2. Be patient! The cliche "the work speaks for itself" is only half true. In a sea of vehicles restored only to the point that they will pass at auction, Vintage Underground excels at COMPLETE restorations. I'm talking assessing each nut, bolt, and washer, replating them, applying chemical or surface treatments to match their original style, and making sure any necessary replacements are as faithful as possible to the original specification. The work DOES speak for itself, but in this case it is often in the most understated, graceful way. The vast majority of what these folks do is only fully understood by the most elite car enthusiasts in the world. 3. Be honest! With yourself, and with Joe! While these guys are capable of some of the most complete and immaculate restorations on earth, you may not need that level of precision and detail! Be realistic about your budget and the intentions you have for your vehicle. Joe is, to my mind, an absolute wizard at prioritizing services, and tailoring the scope of restoration projects to your own personal needs. If you have a disagreement or concern about some aspect of your project simply discuss the matter with them, and you will be pleasantly surprised by their candor and knowledge. I wish you the best with this, and any future projects you may choose to partner with Vintage Underground on!
