Let me give you a more useful answer than those last two in case you still haven't gotten your answer. PROOF OF IDENTITY Something to prove your status in the US whether you're a US born citizen, US citizen naturalized, green card holder, foreign student, visitor, etc. All documents must be original. PROOF OF SOCIAL SECURITY Bring your original social security card. If whatever reason you dont have it, you may bring ONLY THESE ALTERNATIVES. Your W2, an SSA-1099, a NON SSA-1099, or your PAYSTUB. You must have you full 8 digit SSN on all these documents. PROOF OF ADDRESS TWO different official documents that show YOUR NAME and YOUR ADDRESS. These would be utility bills, bank statements, government, medical, insurance, etc. Basically no junk mail. As of 2020 the fee is now $37. Vision test. Bring your NM DL. If you can show proof you had a prior license in another state, your behind the wheel test will be waived. You will still have to take a 36 question knowledge test.

The only thing I would add is that the Hayward location when compared to locations like Oakland is not as congested so you are able to get in and out relatively quickly wow I did notice the appointment line was long and I was able to complete my registration within the same time frame as them so you can just go in if you're not able to complete renewal online

I think you can...most of the ppl. I see are walk-in...but I'm not sure how long the waiting will be (depending on ppl. before you)...but go on line to print out the form first, before heading to DMV, easy way to get everything with you before your # is called...I hope this help you...

Not outside (in line)..but once they take your temperature and information on your visit there, they will check to make sure you have your paperwork before they give you a number...you don't have to stand in line once you have your number, you can wait in your car, you'll be texted and hit the website that will show you how many ppl are before you...once your #2 (on the DVM list) you can go ahead and sit in the waiting area till your number is call...

Paying the fees & passing smog are two different things. If your car did not pass smog you don't get the tags, therefore your car should not be on the road. You can get tickets. Don't throw away your hard earned money needlessly. Your choices are easy ones to make. 1)You must repair your car so that it does, PASS SMOG. Then they will give you the appropriate paperwork to drive while you wait for the tags or stickers to arrive. You will be free to drive legally. 2) Trade or sell that bucket. 3)Upgrade your idea of a car. 4) Upgrade your transportation. Line moves fast here. Line is long because of limited numbers allowed inside. WEAR YOUR MASK!! Handicapped and disabled seniors go to the front of the line. They are polite and professional here And most expedient.

You should do as much of it as possible online before going into the DMV office. Go to the website and upload some documents. If you do that, you get to go to the expedited line which will shave off a lot of time off your visit. Good luck!

I would return to the courthouse and ask for documentation proving that it was in fact a completed course and that It was sent to the DMV. I would take that documentation to the DMV and present it to them for results. Went through something similar and it was resolved when I did the same exact thing I just suggested and went to DMV.
