You aren’t protecting us from dangerous people. You have given up… your officer told me you can’t protect me from a dangerous neighbor until that neighbor causes bodily harm… your officer said you will no longer be dispatching officers to our property unless the problem escalates, unless someone gets hurt! Waiting for bodily harm to happen before you act isn’t protecting! Your officer told me I should move, well I can’t afford to move but apparently your officer can afford $3,700 per month rent. I can’t.

In Berkeley someone can assult you and threaten to kill you and the PD will show up hours late, if at all, and do nothing. Have the audacity to smoke a cigarette, However.... On the plus side, we still need them, I only wish that they would do more protecting and less creating revenue for the city. There is a vast disparity in service depending on what neighborhood you might live in. Sad but True. I wanted to offer 2 stars but realize their are actually worse police departments nearby, part of a pattern running counter to the once revered concept of "serve and protect.". Astute observation suggest the Berkeley PD has other priorities. (Disclaimer:. If you live in the hills or a wealthy neighborhood in North Berkeley, you'll be fine and can disregard this review). Update:. They're worse than I imagined. I just looked over a police report that I had filed. Wow!! The officer did not even get a single thing right, the report is almost a complete fabrication. I was attacked. Plain and simple; adult and battery. My life was repeatedly threatened, I was held "prisoner," not allowed to move for 15 minutes, slapped in the face.....all that the officer wrote on my report is that I was "provoked.". The Berkeley PD fails, yet again!!!! On the other hand, we need them and I don’t fault all officers. I do feel, however, that The BPD has shown me, over time, to be professional yet dysfunctional and unbalanced. 3 Stars because there are far worse.

Officer Shira Warren saved my life by performing emergency CPR on me and other things when I was discovered unconscious early this week. She went above and beyond the call of duty and myself and my family are eternally grateful for her valiant efforts. God Bless Officer Warren and the Berkeley Police!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

My car got a hit and run, I didn’t notice the damage until I got home. I then call Berkeley non-emergency trying to file a police report. The representative told me an officer will call me back within 1-2 hours, I was planned for longer than that base on my previous experience in other city. I am so impressed that the officer calls me back within 10 mins, and he’s very helpful and friendly. Thanks Coria

The first part of your response is not a question?
The agency that cited the Hot Dog vendor was the University of California Police, not a Berkeley Police Officer.

Yes
Yes. You may also accomplish this at the nearest CA Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
The police station is open 24 hours a day.
If you witness someone who is actively hurting themselves or others, you should call 911. And for non-emergencies, call (510) 981-5900.
Please call us at (510) 981-5900 and ask to speak with an officer about this.
I recommend that you contact the Auditor’s Office https://www.cityofberkeley.info/auditor/
