The Stanford Theater is back in business, baby!! This gorgeous restored theater offers a glammed up experience, live organ playing, $1 candy, and a true silver screen

Wow! Stanford Theatre is a class all of it's own with tickets at $7 a piece, very cheap prices for concessions and a jaw dropping inside view of the theatre layout that's been unchanged for 97 years is truly an honor. After 2 years of a shutdown, the return of watching classics on the big screen in a traditional setting as such is breath-taking and worth visiting at least one time or if you're visiting the Palo Alto/Stanford area. I watched Casablanca (1942) for the opening show and it was a blast to join others and see many others get back together in such a loving and natural environment. Till next time!

An old classy theater featuring artistic and classical cinema, great treasure! Definitely a must go place for cinephiles. The interior decoration is just mesmerizing. The ticket is about $7 and cash only. I watched Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai” there and was a massive experience.

What a fun experience watching James Stewart in a movie theater built in the 1920s. Plenty of parking nearby. Comfortable seats. And a good discount opportunity for tickets. One adult ticket is $7, but the better deal is to buy a Gift Certificate for $24, which is good for four admissions. If you’ll be in the area for more movies, save a dollar on each ticket by getting the gift certificate. A great date night.

They have finally reopened as of July 9, 2022! Go to their website to see what's playing.
You would need to visit the theater in person and enquire!
Theatre is currently undergoing refurbishment (new seats, carpeting, etc.). Should reopen right around Thanksgiving. Keep checking website for updates.
Masks are recommended but not required, no spacing enforced between seats.
They do have scheduled closures sometimes. It's listed on their schedule on the website.
The tickets at the Stanford are a "generic" ticket stock without printed titles or showtimes, so they may not know the date/time of your show if you bought a day in advance. You may wish to call the box office to find out for sure.
This is totally dependent on your price range, and the date and time of booking a room, and how far you are willing to walk or drive (or use public or private transportation.) If you have AAA insurance, check with their book, or online. If you use a smart phone - check online for 'hotels in downtown Palo Alto', for quality rating, prices, exact locations
According to their web site at StanfordTheater.Org as of May 14, 2019: Tickets are available at the box office on the day of the show. Ticket prices are $7.00 for adults, and $5 for Seniors (65 and over) and Youth (18 and under). You can also purchase a Gift Certificate for $24, which is good for four admissions. We do not accept credit or debit cards.
Ask them
Show up at the box office. They don't do any other way. It is a really big theater, the old style, i have never seen them sell out.
It'll be on their website. Normally they go dark on holidays.
Cash only though, but by the way, you can see two movies at that price, calls "double feature".
There is parking on the streets, 2 parking lots around the west corner from there. Another small parking lot around the east corner from there. There is a small parking lot behind 'Pizza My Heart' restaurant (which is across the street from the theatre.) All 4 of these outdoor parking lots have Handicapped Parking available. Besides street parking everywhere, there are also 2 very 'large enclosed city' parking lots about 2 blocks from the Stanford theatre. They also have Handicapped Parking on the various floors near the Elevator. Parking in the Palo Alto business district area is free. There are some 2 hour restrictions in the daytime - where posted, but not after 6 pm. (This restriction does not apply to people who have Handicapped placards or Handicapped license plates posted appropriately.) *Parking lots are handicap accessible, as are the walkways entering the streets. The theatre has total handicap accessibility, including their restrooms.
Yes, checkout their website and also visit the location for updates!
They have a tradition of It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve. I hope they'll be open for that.
