A few years ago I wrote a negative review. This time only positive! Friendly staff that truly cared about my comfort and success. Nursing staff was super helpful and genuine. Much better than this hospital EVER was in the past. Very positive experience

Absolutely horrific experience. Was admitted in with chest pain and palpations. The nurse was dismissive and didn't take me seriously from the start. She told me she ordered blood work to be done, so we waited for hours. Bare in mind I wasn't offered even a glass of water, nevermind anything for the pain. During our wait, I overheard several of the nurses as well as the check-in attendant gossiping about me and saying I was "wasting a bed and taking up space for people with real problems". Eventually I asked when they estimated my blood would be drawn, to which the woman at the front desk replied " no blood work panel has been ordered for you. We were just waiting to see if you'd leave once you realized nothing is wrong with you." At this point we refused to pay, and rightly so as we were totally dismissed and ignored. We were then told to leave if we didn't believe this was an "excellent hospital", as the woman and the desk put it. The entire experience was so unprofessional and traumatizing, I wouldn't recommend going here to my worst enemy. I have several friends who work in this hospital, all of which told me how terrible the ER staff is there, and recommended going to Portsmouth Hospital in the future instead.

Upon arrival Dr promised that he would figure out what was going on with my heart rate. Dr never returned. When nurse came 6 HOURS later with discharge instructions, I threw them in the trash because I was frustrated. I received these hazardous waste discharge instructions from their ER trash in my mail 4 days later. The nurse or Dr had taken the time to take them out of the trash and put them in the mail. I'll include that these instructions did not include any information other than they were upset that I did not hang onto them as I walked out the ER door. Beyond them dismissing my concerns last week with my heart rate, I now receive dirty mail from a trash barrel in the ER and cannot scrub my hands enough. This hospital/Emergency ER definitely needs some redirection. If I could give them less than 1 star to give them that direction I would.

I had to go to the Exeter Hospital Emergency room on Sunday morning at about 8:00 am and I was seen by a RN almost immediately. They performed several diagnostic tests, inclusive chest X-ray, ECG and blood work. After determining that I wasn’t having a heart attack (which I didn’t suspect) they did an ultrasound. The attending physician (Glenn Hebel, MD) reviewed all the tests and diagnosed me with a biliary colic, a gall bladder attack. The RN who was in charge (last name Basia?) was professional, thorough and compassionate. The Ultrasound technician was excellent as well. All in all I was extremely pleased with care that I received when I was in a great deal of pain.

what exit is the hopital off 101

Exeter Hospital is off of exit 11 on 101. If you are coming from the west, it will be a right turn off the exit ramp. Go straight about 1/4 mile and Exeter Hospital will be on your left side. If you are coming from the east it is a left turn off of 101, and follow the directions as above.

Good for you KD! Our old local hospitals are being eaten up by these large Boston conglomerates, and the quality of personal care is suffering tremendously! Thank God you didn't go to WDH/Mass General/Brighams !!! Hope you did better at PRH & are well now!
