I worked for this local as a traveler, the hourly pay was great; but that is it. Getting help from the members and staff was difficult or non existent. There is no access to training materials or classes if you are a traveler. I was dispatched to a company called HSI who didn't contribute mandatory pension and health insurance in a timely manner; HSI also bounced many of my payroll checks. I reported the issue to local 11 and they did absolutely nothing to help. I wouldn't recommend working for this local.

The place is hard to get to for me, it's LA/Commerce. The locals in Los Angeles are perhaps because of big city life, are in general unfriendly and distant. Not all but in general.

Look at Ryan's profile... Then look at my profile. Follow his advice and you can be a material handler or join the IBEW CW/CE program and earn significantly less money. Follow my advice and be indentured into a five year program that provides hands on training. To become a Journeyman Wireman in California requires 8000 hours of work & 1000 hours in the classroom. Our Local Union is only one of two which pays both your books & apprenticeship education in the IBEW. After you pass California State General Certified Electrician exam... you must complete a minimum of 32 hours of classroom instruction before you may take another exam. State Certification renews every 3 years.
An electrician foremans pay ranges from $40-$65 dollars an hour.
Labor management co-op committee. Your money goes to them .So they have meetings about...?
Roll Call in the IBEW varies from one local union to another. IBEW Local Union 11 in Greater Los Angeles observes the week having the 3rd Thursday of every month as Roll Call week.
