Have always appreciated the helpful staff and customer service from Charkbait. Good selection of high-end reels from Avet, Okuma, Penn and Seigler.

I have ordered rods, reels, and a few other saltwater items. Nothing but respect for your services from the fast shipping to the experts giving me great advice when i was asking a million and 1 questions.... I will give no other saltwater takle shops my business... I highly recommend this place stay AWAY from fisherman's landing takle and bait shop they steal from rookie anglers

Charkbait! is a small but complete saltwater tackle shop focused on long range fishing. They offer the best of the best gear. The stuff that the owner, Mark, would use himself and to me that speaks volumes. If you go on their website the description for most of the products is from the heart. It explains not only the features but why they believe in the product. They also have a youtube channel with many videos featuring products they carry and it gives you a convenient look and info without having to leave the house. The staff is top notch. Not only do they know their stuff, they are easy to talk to, unlike a lot of shops i've been to. It just seems like they care more about you getting what you really need. Thanks for the great experience guys. I will be back whenever I need something.

Hi Mark, havent' talked with you for a while. Hope all going well. Regarding FL: Personal preference. From testing I did at Guadalupe Isl. years back, seemed to me that 3' was all that mattered to skittish tuna. I typically run 12-25' depending upon the rig used, for bait fishing. But, I've also made up longer wind-ons from a 25 yard coil of FL for fishing bait for very skittish fish on a casting set up. For iron I typically don't run FL lines. But, insecurity and lack of response by fish can change that perspective... Best place for questions like this is not here, please make use of our website, you can post message on the CharkBoard or send direct email.
Yeah, they don't expire
Depends upon application. For bait fishing, I often run 25' of FL straight to braid, wind-on leaders or in-line rigged. For longer casting, surface iron, wahoo iron...I often run 50 yards or more of mono. Subjective to angler and application.
We closed the SD shop in July 2019. As I got older, the drive down got longer. Very much enjoyed having a shop in SD during the 9 years we supported her. But, given market conditions, personnel, inventory needs back at our headquarters, closing the shop was the right call. We're able to process and ship orders from our HQ more quickly, run higher inventory levels here now again. Sorry to close the shop, but from a business and lifestyle standpoint it was a very good move.
Always best to visit our site or message board directly with questions rather than third party site. We will not catch a question, and my time is focused on direct communication with folks. Subjective question, fishermen go in different directions on this one based upon conditions, area fished, personal preference. Mono offers better abrasion resistance, it's less visible to fish, offers some stretch, too. So, it can prove helpful, for most uses. The braid offers increased line capacity so we can fish smaller gear, 1/3 the diameter of mono. Some will run straight braid, forget the mono and go with fluorocarbon leader when bait fishing. With the hollowcore braid you have, you gain some line capacity, can run knot or go in-line knotless connection. In your situation, based upon my understanding of your note, I'd be thinking 25 feet of mono minimum, then would trim as needed. But, again there's no rule, it's a subjective answer which you'll discover yourself thru your own use.
It's about application and person subjective concerns. Both are good reels, Torques are great pieces, Internationals are standards and have improved. Both quite good. There are a couple pieces which overlap in terms of line class, so perhaps more of a choice to make at say the TRQ40 vs Intl 16, 30 vs intl 12. Torques are casting reels with 2 speed function, Internationals are trolling reels with improved freespool capability to aid in casting. Best to drop over to our shop or give us a call to review.
We do not sell live bait, we do sell frozen baits - squid, mackerel, sardine, anchovy, clams, mussels...
