I sometimes go to downtown Berkeley and I hate this park, this place is so scary and I always have to walk extra to avoid it. The city was supposed to bulldoze it but there is now a fence and fortress. It’s so annoying

I take my dog here to hunt mice she catches rats everytime, homeless camps etc nice park garden areas could be awesome specially if the people living there were able to grow food.

It used to be a symbol for a movement that promoted the individual rights of a society to freely assemble, practice free speech, and to preserve nature against greedy corporate expansion. Little by little the University picked away at it, cutting down trees, neglecting the bathrooms and park features until people became disinterested in preserving it.

The University no longer has staff in the People's Park office. If you have questions or comments you can visit our People's Park Committee Facebook page @savepeoplespark or follow @peoplesparkberkeley on Instagram. The People's Park Committee holds meetings in People's Park at 1PM on Sundays.
No idea but a lot of homeless people hang out there and always bug you to buy their pot.
