I really hate to rate this lake because the less people on it and better it is for me but why be selfish. Rarely does the wind cause problems you can usually find an area that's somewhat protected, the park is clean and the marina has really come to life. It is spectacular doing everything they can to make their customers happy.. there are two swimming beaches, a state park, Federal Park and private Wolf Creek Park and a couple of open campgrounds. And now the state did not pay me for this review. I have been to many state parks over Missouri and Kansas and I think I'd rate this number one.

Stayed a week at a cabin on the Vassar side and it was absolutely amazing. Our porch was within 75 feet of the water and fishing was Abundant. The cabin itself is exceptionally quaint and very well kept with all dishes and cookware supplied. There is a small disc golf course that is fun to play. The marina has carp that come to the docks and you can hand feed and even pet. Donna, the lady that keeps the cabins and camp area tidy is one of the sweetest persons you could ever meet but this was her last season and it's SD to see such a good person go. If you are wanting a little cozy escape from everyday life I very highly recommend checking out the park. Be prepared to put your phones down too because coverage is poor but that's one of the best things there. 10/10 will definitely go again!

Very nicely kept. We stayed in Takoma cabin. Clean. Efficient layout. Modern. Wonderful deck with lake close through the trees. Plenty of walking trails. Beach looked inviting. We've booked Lakota for next time. We think it has very slightly better view of the lake through the trees. Booking through reserveamerica.com ultimately worked, but was confusing.

Bathrooms are atrocious except for one by Kansa. Good spots near lake with a view are all primitive. Good fishing lake. Good bike trail nearby.
