Immaculately maintained paved trail on the Catawba River. Full of twists, turns, bends, river banks, and some wildlife to boot.

Awesome paved bike trail...an easy ride! Beautiful spots to stop along the river. Rode my OneWheel down here and was told it wasn't allowed. Seems crazy since so many others have and it's not loud. I think there's a confusion on what's a motorized vehicle and what's not... Anyway, you can ride your electric bike down here, no problem...go figure...

In the last view years, there has been a lot of development - businesses, residential space, parking lots. I have serious concerns about what measures are being taken to preserve the existing ecosystem in place, as well as any measures to provide free, public access to nature. Increasingly, it looks like access to the Catawba River here will be given to those who can purchase it (residential) or those who plan to make purchases near it (business).

This is one of my favorite trails to walk with my dogs, although it gets a little crowded some days. There's plenty of shade, spots to rest, and one of those little book exchanges at the start of the path. I wish they had water fountains and actual bathrooms (there's port o johns nearby) so you should probably bring water with you. Parking isn't as limited as it used to be, as they just constructed a parking lot, but spot availability may change when they finish building the new apartments that they've started.
