I have visited and worked in this library several times over the last several weeks and thought it a great place. The children’s programs seemed great. Then it all fell apart today. I heard a male voice challenge a child’s voice with “Do you have those books. They’re in the stack”. Small voice, “I don’t have them. I really don’t.” Edge of anger, “Then you come with me right now. We are calling the police this minute if you don’t turn over those books. NOW!” I peeked around the stack. The small boy was probably 8-10. He’d been turned over to an older lady. I was appalled. Having been a teacher for 35 years, I can tell you, you don’t use that tone with a small child from the get-go and you sure as heck don’t threaten an unaccompanied child with the police. Perhaps the librarian thinks he’s Donald trump implementing his “zero tolerance” policy but it has no place in a neighborhood library. Good God, if a kid is gonna steal, I’d rather it be a book!! I sure wouldn’t send my kids to this library. They might get deported.

I'm in the library almost daily! I love the staff and so many people don't realize what your local libraries have to offer!

It should be hung up near the children's section of the books when you just walk in

When can appts be made for having your taxes done at Anderson Library?

Barb - appointments are made through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at https://vita.unl.edu/signup/ So far they have not said when they will begin taking appointments. Lincoln City Libraries simply provides space for this service. We don't have any control over how the appointments are handled.
