I'm really glad I stopped in at Audi of San Diego. My salesman ("Lucas K.") was really honest and straightforward with me about pricing and incentives when I went in to look at a couple different models. Although we couldn't come to a deal the first day, he took notes on what I was looking for and called me back the very next day when he could meet the parameters of the deal I wanted. I ended up getting a great deal on a car with all the features I was looking for. All the staff I interacted with at Audi San Diego were friendly and attentive, and the facility was sparkling clean. Lucas made sure to follow up with me after the sale to ensure all my questions were answered and that I was totally satisfied with the sale. Overall, it was a very refreshing, candid and no-hassle buying experience.

Mario was very accommodating to our needs, especially as a family with young kids. His flexibility with the test drive was helpful. Honesty about cost effectiveness on specific vehicles allowed us to feel comfortable with our decision. Typically being BMW or Porsche family, I am now happy to say I have an Audi and the customer service had a big role to play.

DO NOT GET YOUR AUDI SERVICED HERE. The high ratings here seem to be for people buying cars from them. Horrible customer service and communication. I generally do not write long negative reviews unless the service is that bad. My Audi Q3 was up for its 40k mile service on a Thursday and after inspection, they recommended that brake pads and/or rotors need to be changed as they were worn out and coolant replacement too. I agreed to the repair and when asked how long this would take, I wad told it would be done by Monday or Tuesday. I was traveling out of San Diego on Wednesday and I clearly stated that I would need my car by Wednesday morning or Tuesday evening and they said okay. Come Tuesday, there was no communication from them. I called them but no response, dropped a message to the service representative about the car delivery - nothing! I called them again in the evening and they said that the service representative was away and that the parts were not there yet. When I told them that I needed my car back for my trip, the rep on the phone was really rude. Forget offering a loaner vehicle or delivering my car back to the home location, they did not even care to apologize. I had to leave work to go collect my car and I was met by rude reps at the showroom. They acted as if they were doing me a favor by returning MY CAR back to me. I ended up not getting the brakes/rotors replaced here. You are better off going to Audi Escondido for a better customer care experience.

I called Audi of San Diego a few days in advance to get a leaking tire repaired. They told me that they can only replace the tire and that they would have to order the tire in to the dealership. Then the tire specialist sold me on another tire since he said that Audi recommends the tires should match on the same axle. When I got to the dealership on Friday they told me the tires weren’t there and that they’ll try to get them in later in the day. I was told the tires came in around 3:30 pm that day and that they would have to keep my car until Saturday to install the tires and perform an alignment check. So I said okay and that I would need the car the next day. Then after calling repeatedly to try and get a hold of my service advisor which I couldn’t get a hold of him on Friday and Saturday to get the status of my car, I finally get a call back from Audi on Saturday and was told that they couldn’t assign the car to a technician and the car needed to stay until Tuesday. Not Monday but Tuesday! By then I was outraged! I expected allot more and better service from Audi! This whole time I was calling to try to talk to my service advisor but I couldn’t get in touch with him. I finally talked to a different service advisor which I explained my frustration to and all he was able to tell me that they were short handed there. He finally was able to assign my car to a technician and was able to get the car back to me on Saturday.

Do dealerships register cars for you?

Audi San Diego | Dec 26, 2021
Audi San Diego | Dec 26, 2021

This is a good question. The answer all depends on which state the car is purchased in. In some states the buyer will need to take care of the registration outside the purchase of the vehicle, while in other states the dealership pays the registration on the buyer’s behalf as it is factored in as total cost of the vehicle. In the latter instance, the dealer registers the new car at the point of sale and forwards the information onto the DMV. In this scenario, it typically it takes about three weeks for the buyer to receive their registration in the mail.

The best mileage for used cars really depends on your needs. Average used car mileage ranges from 8,000 to 15,000 miles per year the car has been driven. Keep in mind that some used car mileage can be much higher, or much lower depending on the previous owner. Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021

Conventional hybrids (HEV) are primarily gas-powered cars that use electric motors to help out the internal combustion engine. Plug-in hybrids (PHEV) have a battery-powered electric motor that can function independently with enough range for a daily commute. The also have a conventional gas engine to extend the vehicle’s range. Battery electric vehicles (BEV) are powered solely by a battery and electric motor. Fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) use compressed hydrogen gas for fuel. When hydrogen is combined with air in the vehicle’s fuel cell, electricity is created and used to power the car’s electric motor.

Do I need to get my car serviced even if I'm not driving as often?

Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021
Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021

Your vehicle may be spending a lot more time in the driveway these days, delaying a mileage milestone that illuminates a service reminder light. While maintenance recommendations are often based on mileage or time, it’s important to consider that right now the suggested schedules could look a little different. Idle vehicles can suffer from dead batteries, stale gas and flat tires, which can lead to bigger, more costly issues down the road. Staying on top your maintenance routines will keep your vehicle in tip-top shape for when you’re ready to hit the open road.

What's the difference between used and certified pre-owned?

Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021
Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021

A used car is one that has had at least one previous owner and can be any age. A used car will usually only offer the remainder of the manufacturer's warranty, if it still applies. A certified pre-owned car or CPO is usually not more than 5-7 years old and is backed by the manufacturer. These vehicles are put through rigorous, multi-point inspections by trained technicians, and come with an extended warranty. The complete inspection of a CPO results in the replacement or repair of any damaged or worn parts before the car is certified and offered up for sale.

What's the difference between leasing and buying?

Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021
Audi San Diego | Aug 23, 2021

Leasing allows you to get more car for your money by allowing you to drive a more expensive car with lower payments - when compared to owning a car of the same price. Leases are structured in 2 to 3 year increments which means you will always be covered by a warranty and can get a new vehicle at the end of your leasing term. Buying offers freedom in other arenas with no restrictions on the miles driven or customization options. Once a financed vehicle is paid off, you will not have to make any more payments and you may keep the vehicle as long as you want. Warranties do expire, but you always have the option to purchase an extended warranty.
