A live
I’d steer clear of this place. It’s random who you’ll get staff-wise. Some staff are very nice and friendly, others are patronizing, rude and arrogant with terrible customer service. We had better experiences with the workers than one of the leaders in particular who rudely interfered and interrupted an important medical meeting with our family doctor for a non-emergency. If you look at their reviews on f.ex Yelp, failure to bathe, give medications correctly, etc are seen there on reviews. We’ve experienced some of these issues as well. Also, families have reported on Yelp there appears to be understaffing resulting in resident neglect and unfulfilled paid for services and care. It seems some of the staff doing caregiving either have very little experience or are very poorly trained in elder or disabled care while a few are great from our perspective. Families have had to hire outside care as well as pay Westmont, for what? Great place if you don’t care about spending lots of money for poor/lacking customer service. A good residential home may be better tbh. One positive is that, in general, the residents seem to enjoy Jonathan’s meals.

My husband and I are nurses at Grossmont hospital. We placed my mother-in-law in memory care, Compass Rose, at Westmont. I cannot say I thought my mother-in-law was unsafe, but the value for what we paid was disproportionate. We often got excuses why mom wasn’t showered or hair washed. One time the facility called us to tell us that someone was in moms room, asking for a check for $10,000. I left work quickly and got there only to find out there is another resident there with a similar name and they mixed up the contact information. I’m glad it wasn’t a medication error! Most recently my mother’s roommate tested positive for Covid. It took them two days to tell us and move our mother to another room. When they moved her to another room it was as if she were in prison, just a chair and a bed. They didn’t move any of her other belongings and actually left someone else’s belongings from a prior resident in the room. I question their sanitation in Covid awareness. We weren’t surprised when mom tested positive for Covid. ( she was vaccinated but the break thru case was too Much for her 89year old body)Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately…we brought her home in hospice care and she died three days later. The director David, not the Compass Rose manager, called or sent their condolences. Only Kitty the sales director- she was on vacation- and she texted her sympathy. Having a parent with dementia is hard. Before placing your parent or loved one here, I would recommend considering, for the same price, home care. The staff was mostly nice and seemed caring. Certain employees were especially notable- Athena, Kitty, Jill and Monica. The management lacks direction and follow through.

Mom loves this place. The units are gorgeous. The grounds beautiful. The staff is very caring and made mom feel so welcome. Their Covid protocol is top notch.

Hi I'm just a friend who visits someone there, but I do know they are hiring. Don't know how much or shifts I'm sorry.
Hi Cindy, Our newest COVID-19 protocols as of February 7th, 2022 require either proof of being fully vaccinated, OR proof of a negative COVID test within 2 days. Thank you for your question. - Westmont of La Mesa
We are actively hiring caregivers.
