Can't even do their job. Even if they were just drunk. Shouldn't have been there at 5am

Not by luck that Carlsbad is 99% safe from violence other communities face. Property issues: cars, bikes, and reckless people behavior involving them tends to be the majority of issues here. It is a lot of hard and smart work, as well as forward-thinking leadership in the department that allows Carlsbad to be safe. Also, the quality of people of every race who make up the population shows. Even older teenagers and young adults in Carlsbad are more likely to practice life-loving and constructive practices. To all at the Carlsbad Police Dept, the City, The Assoc, who worked on the Invest to Protect Act. --may your collaborative work finally get the end result of the billions of dollars for specifically small and tiny police departments. Carlsbad definitely needs the reliable flow of funding to hire more quality officers, to fund continuous training and support, and to continue to use critical technology. The department must have the money to stay forward thinking--the realities of the real world 2022 and complex decades of volatile and abysmal issues in this state and in our country require it. It's not only there is only so much private security partners can do. It's not only every act that the police department takes bucks--Ie: ensuring accurate information is accurate matters in order to protect and prevent. Little by little falling back into reactive policing due to lack of funds has consequences no professional police officer or employee or constructive person in Carlsbad wants. The volume of property crime is great, including because of criminals who specifically come here to commit crimes. It takes $100,-000s to ensure these type of issues don't escalate. Priceless is the time and efforts invested by several specific people to get that Invest to Protect Act materialized and moving up into the system. I could not be more grateful for all you have done. 10 STARS-- THE PERFECT TEN. Carlsbad PD professionals--whether we own up to it or not. Each and every day our laws are enforced. The city crime statistics reflect the city's factual reality. As an every day citizen it is important to me to be fair.

The PD bicycle- safety videos have helped me. I know in future when back on a bike again I will be safe and keep it secure, too. Five months ago, I had a serious slam on cement--wearing a hat, not a bike helmet. I took for granted my moving the e-bike several 100 feet from a parking space to secure parking garage above--would be safe. I am grateful for all the effort in the end result of City passing additional bike ordinances in March 2022. A few bicyclists don't have the decency or forward-thinking to think of others. While some others are too self-assured of their safety. What is lacking on the Web are factual, detailed videos re: injury or possible death on any bicycle. Possibly, Carlsbad PD could produce a few--as informational, but, also to deter individual riders from taking for granted. Even the "me-me only" type people care about their own health. Injury, death being the video's theme as an additional tool to enhance safety on our streets. I think some people would care to learn or improve their ways in knowing what common bike injuries, like a head injury concussion entails: Head, brain injuries are unique to an individual-depending on initial event and after. Unless a doctor had one personally, few truly get any sense of the depth of injury. For months I could not control the 17-22 hours of sleep. One of the hardest things has been how "any type of thinking" was temporarily impossible. Efforts caused acute extra throbbing to 1/4 of my head, when the existing continuous pain was already really difficult. I hid how even saying my name and DOB caused extra pain for hours. The only good thing was that my writing improved--while my speech, acute sensitivity to light, sound, heat , sunlight, and balance worsened. My mind being able to identify and put together simple things also is profoundly challenged. My ear drums sometimes feel like they are going to pop--another issue. Now, months later, thinking has slowly improved. I can do a few simple things for about 5 minutes accurately; but, still causes that extra pain; But, at least I can focus for that short span of time. To this day, the hardest thing is how unreliable I appear to be when no one has a clue how each minute I have been working on improving reliability. Reliability and routines was always my natural core. Even the day being 10 degrees warmer, or my walking five minutes too much, or my forcing myself to go up and down steps quicker while at handrail-- ruins the remaining part of the day. Meanwhile, I got up thinking I would have a good day. Good days are still rare. My driving a few miles a day at non-traffic times /streets has been most times been overdoing for my brain. The focus and thinking in driving is so unconsciously demanding. But, I am thankful doctor convinced me to slowly add driving to my week. Specialists have super emphasized to me I must carefully push limits a little bit at a time to recover. But, immediately after--- adhere to the body demanding as no choice additional hours of rest --or I will deteriorate. I average spend approx. 12-14 hours (or more on bad days) deeply sleeping. I spend two hours daily with brain- focused therapy exercises & repeating newscasts out loud. I speak to a sibling to desperately improve my speech and to help me strengthen coordinating thought process with my speech. I am doing better, but, nowhere close to my normal. Only my keying is normal. With help from professionals, many weeks later, I was able to figure if I had passed out after the fall. I had and didn't even remember. Above doesn't include my right leg injury experience which has also had challenges. Like always, my hands were on the handlebars-.and placed so I could immediately brake--the only way I will ride a bike and always, always have ridden a bike. I now know I was going about 5-1/2 mph--not more than 6.. Every person's safety on a bicycle matters. Life changes or a long time- after an injury bike event--NOT ONLY for the bicyclist. That for me has been deepest of pure hard. Our PD really cares...to keep us safe matters.

Racial profiling. I was pulled over earlier this evening in a residential area for my windshield phone mount; apparently you can't have your phone mount placed in the center of your windshield. Not only was that a ridiculous thing to get stopped for, but I was giving a Lyft ride to an African-American male from Carlsbad to Vista. Once the officer noticed him sitting in the backseat, he completely shifted all of his attention to him. The officer asked him for all of his information, etc. My passenger cooperated without any issues, and the officers let us go without any citations or anything, but I felt that it was completely unnecessary for the officer to collect all of his personal information when he had absolutely nothing to do with me being pulled over...for a phone mount! This was textbook racial profiling. The officer even made him exit the vehicle to speak to him in private, then allowed him to return to the car so I could finish giving him the ride he paid for. This held me up for about 20 minutes. I'll be in touch with the higher-ups very soon.

My home burned down on 1/27/2018. A woman offered her guest room rent free until 6/1/2018.She is on lease until that time. Her landlord discovered that a guest was residing in her home and demanded that I vacate in 5 days. Is this legal? What are my

I am not a police officer however, this is not a question for the police department. This is a legal question. Is your person allowing you to stay in the room in violation of her lease agreement. I suggest you contact the local bar association. Attorneys are required to do a certain amount of free work in order to maintain good standing with the Bar Association. This is the kind of thing that they would answer. Try and have a copy of the lease agreement with you.
