Just happened to find this little spot while figuring out an itinerary on Google Maps, and it was close to our route so we stopped to check it out. When we pulled in, an elderly Navajo woman asked us if we'd like the tour and we said sure! Juanita walked us around to all of the tracks and explained them to us, as well as Dino droppings, eggs, and one partial skeleton. It was fascinating! Juanita's great grandmother settled there long ago, and in the 40's the highway department found the spot while building the highway. Juanita and her family have been giving tours of the place ever since for free, with the suggestion of a tip and to check out the jewelry they make. I asked her how long she had been giving tours herself and she said since the 60's! Highly recommend stopping and supporting the helpful family and seeing what most people will never have the chance to see.

There were some Navajos selling jewelry, so be aware that if they are giving you a tour, they will either want you to buy their jewelry or at least provide a tip at the end. If you do not want to, then politely let them know, "No. Thank you." I have to say it was very nice to talk with the gentleman who was showing us the dinosaur tracks. Yes, we did give him some money, but it was a pleasure talking to him and having him show us around.

There’s something kinda raw and cool about this site not having the normal protections of other dinosaur sites. It really is just a spot on the side of the road with no formal anything. There are local people there who ask to give you a 10 minute walking tour for a donation. Would feel weird to refuse it as it is their land we’re loitering on, but our guide’s brief explanation highlighted things we obviously would have missed or not known at all. Really great if you’re near the area and definitely a to-do if you’re passing through.

Amazing place to view dinosaur tracks. If you love dinosaurs or know someone who does, do not miss this place. It super interesting to see the different tracks. The tours are free but you should support the local shops here. We bought a few gifts and souvenirs! The lady that gave us a small tour was super friendly and very nice and so was everyone else in the area. The Navajo shops and people there are amazing folks and very easy to chat with. Parking is easy but the roads are pretty rough so don't go too fast on the road. Overall, I'm glad we didn't miss this place.

No need for a tour guide. But if you'd prefer a guide, there are a few extremely knowledgable ladies selling Navajo jewelery in the parking lot who will gladly show you around for a small tip.
You can go there any time but there won't necessarily be someone there to explain things to you. It is not fenced off, and you can walk around on your own.
