I have lived at Assembly for just over a year (moved in June 2021) and I recently renewed my lease. Mike is phenomenal; extremely professional, efficient, and made the move seamless. The customer service and the team here is outstanding. Rudy, the maintenance manager, is top tier in his performance and service. When we requested assistance, he immediately responded and resolved any issues with the apartment. Ashley has been very communicative and responsive to our various questions and needs. As residents, we are exceptionally pleased with the management and the building as a whole. We look forward to remaining here for awhile.

Lived here for a year, and overall the experience was pretty average. The original manager, Becca, was really great, but felt like there was a noticeable change for the worse when the team switched midway through. Pros: -Gym was really nice -Essentially got 3 months off a 13 month lease (2 months off and a look and sign deal for another 2k off) Cons: -Had an awful move out experience, where I specifically asked the staff to reserve an elevator for a Sunday AM a few days ahead of time and they told me sure. Sunday came, and I found out they had given our elevator to someone else. They were super unhelpful during the process too, spending time showing new potential apartment leasers around instead of helping us. -New management is very slow to respond to emails, and overall not very helpful -Getting charged a lot for cleaning fees and re-painting upon moving out (I guess expect to lose at least 500 dollars from your deposit?) -Things that were broken in the gym took half a year to fix -Area around there isn't super safe; friend visiting had his catalytic converter stolen while parked near the building Overall, I don't regret living here, but probably only because I essentially got 3 months off my 13 month lease. The value they given doesn't nearly justify what they would charge without the discount.

I lived here for a year and recently moved out. I HIGHLY do not recommend moving here. The leasing office is not responsive at all plus I recently found out that despite leaving a clean and undamaged apartment, I am being scammed out of the majority of my deposit. They will do the same to you, they are probably desperately trying to make back the money they spent building the place. The amenities are very nice and I had no issues with my actual apartment, but it was just overpriced and not worth dealing with how this building is ran.

Please read if you are considering Assembly as a future home. I'll start with the most egregious aspects of my experience and then end with the remaining shortcomings that make it unacceptable that Assembly is branded as a luxury building. Within the first month of us moving into the building, we found that our site storage to find that the cage was cut open and that our valuable/personal items were stolen. We immediately notified both the apartment staff, as well as the police. There was no sense of urgency from the staff in responding to our situation or to reviewing the security footage. We were told that it was so much work to do and that schedules would have to be completely moved around and that there was no telling how long it would take because the system has no fast-forward capabilities. Problematic, considering that we were hoping to uncover information that could potentially lead to the recovery of our belongings. Furthermore, the day after the robbery, we did not hear from staff as promised and had to follow-up multiple times. We had very rude encounters with staff members and some very nonchalant problematic comments made about having our stuff stolen, including a very dismissive "Oakland is dangerous". Regional staff got involved and was more professional however, after they felt that our terms were too high, they chose not to negotiate fair terms and retained a law firm to send us a letter offering $500 concession in exchange for signing an NDA. FYI - the storage was accessible via key fob and we were the only ones (besides staff) that had access. The only information they would share is that there was no “unauthorized” key fob access which mean much. The cameras are apparently worthless from a security perspective because they were unable to identify anything leaving the building, despite us giving descriptions of the large items. We walked by the storage about a week after our robbery and found that it was being propped open with a piece of cardboard. We shared it with the regional staff and no one responded. Other experiences that we've had: - No dishwasher/broken ice maker for the first month that we lived there. Were told that there was nothing they could do about timing because there were so many other broken appliances in the building. Only after we were robbed did they come up with an instant solution. - Outlets in the apartment weren't working upon move-in, the washing machine and the dishwasher both flooded the first time we used them - Repulsive dog park - infested with flies/bugs, they claim to clean it every day but just let the water run and there are feces throughout. There is no system built in to accommodate the space as a dog park so it smells awful. - Leasing process - we had many delays in communication and in the execution of our lease. It is almost impossible to get someone on the phone. We were copied on communications with other residents with their personal information visible. They took so long after we applied to execute that they no longer had the $200 parking spots available that we agreed to when applying and we were forced to take on a $250 spot. - Package room - left open, even though there is a secure system and they've had multiple thefts. Since our robbery, the staff agreed to fix it and they started to close it but have since left it open again. I am certain that the regional management would say that they were empathetic to our situation (on-site property management never followed up to check-in on how things were going) and that they were willing to implement additional security measures. That is true however, I take issue with it being framed as something that they were doing as a personal favor to me. The security of the building is a much broader concern that has applicability to all residents, current and future. Beyond that, my items were already stolen? It is a moot point. Additionally, neighbors have indicated instances of unprofessionalism/security concerns and have intentions to move out. They were shocked we moved in given the reviews.
