Excellent food, beer, and friendly service! It's a small place with about 4 booths, 2 small tables, and a bar space. Since they don't take reservations we showed up before they opened and it worked out well. They had 4 different draft beers including Paulaner hefeweizen, Reissdorf kolsch that we quite enjoyed while waiting for our food. We ordered the Jagerschnitzel and sauerbraten with sides of sauerkraut, blaukraut, spaetzle, and bratkartoffeln. While waiting for our food, we're served warm homemade focaccia bread which was so good. Everything was super delicious and the meat was cooked to perfection. Portions are quite big (that being said we ate everything on our plates.) I don't know what to say about the Blackforest cake, just get it! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

I have been to the top of Mt.Schnitzel and it is Cafe Rustika in RVA. You think you've had schnitzel before? Ha I laugh at you. This place will blow your puny conceptions of schnitzel out of the water. Not only the schnitzel but the sides are a perfect execution of their substance as well. And then there's the beer. They have maybe 4 beers on tap, each excellently sourced and served. The staff are passionate about what they serve here. This is one of the very few perfect restaurants I've ever been to.

The food here is awesome! Large portions, great sides, and the most perfect, lightly battered schnitzel. It's a limited menu but if you're a schnitzel lover, then this is the place to go! We went in for an early dinner, got a table easily, but the wait time for food was excruciating. Our food didn't arrive until an hour after ordering. If you want to eat here, I'd recommend ordering ahead for pick up and avoid the in person wait. Despite that, I'm still giving this place 5 stars because the food was fantastic. Limited street parking in the area and a few paid parking garages within a couple blocks.

Cafe Rustika is awesome. It has super authentic German food and a FOH manager who is happy to help you understand the entire German menu. It's a super relaxed restaurant, a nice chill spot to eat and talk. The Shnitzel is bomb regardless of the toppings you get with it. I got the Dijon-Dill special and it definitely did not suck. This place is great!

They have booths, so if you go during off hours it should be fine. Otherwise it's usually pretty packed in the evening.
