Recently had a visit with CALVETs at a satellite office in Danville, my VSO rep was Chuck and he was awesome. CALVET mans this office on Wednesdays but my appointment went flawlessly, Chuck seemed very knowledgeable and also a great guy to talk to. Semper Fi, Chuck.

If I could give a negative star rating, I would. I've had two bad experiences there. One with a Fred, who actually literally laughed at me when I wanted to submit a claim for an often denied condition. Not cool. The location is close to me, so I thought I'd give it another chance and talk to another rep. I spoke to a Sidney. Right away he was negative about a claim I asked about filing, even downright hostile. He made sure to tell me he used to work at the VA and reviewed applications and he knew what he was doing, in a very condescending manner. He made sure to tell me his son works as a insurance claims investigator and catches a lot of people filing fraudulent claims. He had little interest in the paperwork and medical records I had brought in to support my claims and only took a small portion of it to submit. When I left the office, I had a very negative feeling in my gut and it triggered a huge amount of anxiety that has continued to build into anger and resentment. I really don't know what they are there to do, since they didn't help me at all. I just went on line and filed the claim myself. If I need any help in the future I absolutely will not go there and will drive 100 miles if I have to.

Everyone in this office was wonderful toward my husband. We brought in all of his records and medical information and they were able to get him the disability benefits he so rightly deserved (at the time he suffered from several Agent Orange health issues; he is currently terminal from Agent Orange cancer). They answered our questions and they treated him with dignity and respect. I will be thankful to them all the days of my life for what they did for my husband.

You have to be at 100% or a student.
Original or certified copy of your DD214. For reservists, you also need your certificate of discharge. The CVSO will give you a verification paper and you take that to DMV.
The only way to know is to call them, their number is listed.
My husband said to contact the V.A. in Oakland. That is the main one. Hope it helps
The VA service in Contra Costa County has what you need. All that you need is your DD 214 or proof of service.
Enrollment in the VA Healthcare System doesn't affect your ability to be enrolled in a healthcare plan like Kaiser. To understand and apply for VA Healthcare, please contact the Contra Costa County Veterans Service Office
Yes we can, please call our office or reach us in our virtual office www.contracosta.ca.gov/vets
The VA uses a combined rating schedule, so 80%+20% doesn't equal 100%. If your conditions have worsened, or if you are unable to work due to your service connected conditions, please reach out to the Contra Costa County Veterans Service Office for assistance.
None of it is.
The Contra Costa County Veterans Service Office can assist you in understanding and accessing VA burial benefits, including burial in a VA National Cemetery.
You can request a DD 214 by submitting a Stanard Form 180 to the National Personel Record Center in Saint Louis Missouri. The Standard Form 180 can be accessed with a simple Google search. It does not cost any money and it usually take about 4 to 6 weeks to receive. Hope this helps Buck
Swing by and see a Veteran Service Officer. They can assist with getting your records and starting the claims process with you. 👍🤙
The Contra Costa County Veterans Service Office is the BEST place for EVERY Veteran to visit after leaving the service... if they just got out last week or if they got out 40 or 50 years ago after Vietnam and never saw a service officer or the VA. It is never too late... and you do not need an appointment... just walk-in. They are very helpful and I would not be here to share this with you if it was not for their help!
