These guys are clowns!. During my phone call with them, the customer service lady was extremely rude and hung up on me without resolving the issue. I was trying to find why my tax payment that was made on 11/17/20 by my escrow company, still does not show as paid. I even had the check number that the escrow company had sent. Today is 12/7/20 with only 3 days left in deadline. After almost 3 weeks that the check was sent, website still does not show it paid. The customer service lady refused to help clarify why and refused to find out if the check was even received. When I asked to talk to supervisor, she said she will disconnect, and she hung up.

I just bought a house in Concord for $465,000.00a fixer upper 9 months ago and today I just received a new assessment value at 595k. What is the legally of this county recorder re-reassessment the property?

When a house sells, the county reassessed at the current value of the house. Sometimes the county accepts the sale price. Other times it looks at comparable sales in the area and assesses from that. This reevaluation is the result of proposition 13, passed a long time ago, which, to me, unfairly taxes new owners with higher assessments than their neighboring properties that haven't sold. The county is following the law, which state voters passed many years ago. Not a great law, because it bankrupted government and social programs in favor of current property owners and caused the burden of inequitable taxes on people purchasing houses in the future.
