My wife had multiple procedures done in this hospital starting from 2005. We also had 3 babies delivered here. One in 2006, second in 2009 and the last one in 2021 - 8 months ago. Except the billing related to the last delivery and related issues, everything else can be 5 star rated. But our experience last delivery in November 2021 was very disappointing. The service from the hospital for the baby was very poor. This could have been because of the limited number of nurses working during the Thanksgiving weekend. But they still charged $2400+ for the Baby care alone after the insurance. Around $600 for each day. When I disputed about this charge as we did not get proper services, they denied the dispute by explaining the services we got on the first day and charging the same amount for every other day. Be careful before going to this place. You may end up paying for nothing at the end. I like reiterate the fact that all my other experience with hospital was great. And I can't think of any other doctors who could have done a better job than Dr. Yogam who was my wife's OB/GYN who works at this hospital.

The WORST hospital ever. I was taken in in an ambulance with a medical emergency obviously. After 7 hours of listening to security guards cuss each other out, another patient cussing out everybody in the waiting room….I never received any care. I left. I then ended up in another medical emergency and had to go to another hospital hours later. Disgusting excuse for a hospital. I will be filing a complaint.

Thank you so very much for handling all the insurance paperwork efficiently and effectively. I had my broken jaw surgery today and it went swimmingly well. I'm not on cloud 9, but thanks to all your hard work, detailed approach, and customer service, I'm on my way.

Yes.
Seek a primary care physician...
Alta Bates Summit Medical Center does, but at the OAKLAND/Summit campus, not at the Berkeley/Alta Bates Campus
Yes. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center has hematologists. Hematologists treat blood disorders like sickle cell anemia. Emergency room doctors are generally familiar with the symptoms of a sickle cell crisis. One hematologist that I and my sister see is Dr. Akshiv Malhotra, MD.
You have to call the house operator and tell them what floor or name... complicated for sure... no one might not answer the phone
10am - 8pm Must be Vax with proof 2 person per visit. Call hospital and ask floor nurse station if available.
The 6 or the 40 so I think...
It's never closed it just cost from 6am to 7pm
The county vital records department would have them. I believe there is a small fee.
Yes.
Vital. Always go directly to summit in Oakland. See Wall Street Journal, Nov. 29, p. A14: Even a 1 hour delay to transport from Alta Bates to Summit can result in one out of five patients who is disabled and not able to care for themselves."
i am not a local guide
There's many treatment departments; Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Respiratory Therapy, Social Workers, Case Managers, etc. Treatment is a very broad term. The South Pavilion also offers Chemical Dependency Treatment and the Herrick location provides mental health services.
Yes, although these can also be done at the Surgery Center on Telegraph Ave. Work with your physician to determine the best location for these treatments.
At the Herrick Campus they do.
Most likely, yes. If you are in the emergency department and need to be registered, the medical records system does interface with insurance providers to validate insurance coverage.
ABSMC does have several outpatient pharmacies. One is located at 3100 Webster Street in Oakland, just across from the Summit Campus, One is located at EBAC at 3100 Summit Street, and one is in the Herrick Campus, 2nd floor, on Dwight Way in Berkeley.
