Let me start by saying that I have not yet left a bad review for anyone because I know the impact that reviews have on businesses. However, this place does not even deserve a single star. This place was a recommendation by a nearby inn owners that we were staying in (the inn by the way was fantastic). A person in our party had an allergy to garlic and onions. When we informed our waitress (the waitress seemed experienced because she was training a new waitress) of this she said that that is not a problem and that none of their dishes have any onion or garlic in them. This was a pleasant surprise (most places in the area cook everything with onion and garlic) and we were very excited and decided to stay and this is where it all went downhill. After placing the order for the appetizers (which we were re-assured contained no garlic or onion) the waitress came back with the chef/owner of the restaurant. He, very curtly and rudely informed us that almost everything, on the menu, contains garlic and/or onion. He did not give us options of what could be altered to make it without onion or garlic, it seemed as if he was offended that we informed him of this allergy. Then, we finally settled on salmon. While the owner/chef was still present at our table, we wanted to let him know how we would like the salmon cooked to which he rudely answered "you're going to tell that to her," and pointed at the waitress. In hindsight, that was extremely rude and unprofessional because the salmon that we received had nothing in common of how we requested it. As an additional bonus, we had a full glass of water spill on our table, it was unclear who spilled it, either the waitress while putting down one of our plates or someone at our table, nonetheless, the spilled water was not cleaned up. There was an attempt made by a teenage busboy to clean it up but he did not manage to do so, so the person in our party who was sitting in the spot where the water was spilled had to eat her meal at a table next to ours for the REST OF THE MEAL. As far as the food goes; we had: the meatloaf, which was bland on its own but the sauce was very good, the pasta with salmon was ordinary but not as expected from the description, the salmon was overcooked and under salted (and not prepared how we requested it), and the ribs were bland, however the salad or coleslaw that came with the ribs was very good. Overall, would not recommend this restaurant at all. Prices are of a high end restaurant, staff is not knowledgeable of the items on the menu, the owner is neither welcoming nor accommodating, and the food is ordinary at best. We wish we would have followed our instincts and would have left after we had our encounter with the owner. The only consolation is that we don't ever have to go there again.

This is the place to eat while in the Gloucester Virginia area! The food is always delicious! This is the restaurant we just have to eat at every time we are in the area! The waitresses are so friendly and have come to know us over the years we have visited. The Chef's Apple cocktail is incredible- I get it every time we go! The Tuna Tartar Napoleon is another favorite! The chef and his wife have an amazing restaurant!

We're visiting the area and happened across this delightful eatery! The chef makes everything from scratch & makes it delicious. I had the crispy chicken marsala...oo, la, la, comfort food at it's best! The chicken was pounded thin, lightly breaded & fried. Then laid on a bed of mashed potatoes with a marsala sauce (full of mushrooms) poured on top. Chef makes the marsala sauce to order. It's a large serving! No room for dessert. The restaurant is cozy & inviting with excellent service!! If you haven't been, go... you'll be glad you did.

Very attentive staff who make recommendations based on food allergies - gluten and dairy in our case. They also accommodate food intolerances by modifying preparation. The results are delicious! Nice variety of items on the menu too.
