We went here thinking we would do the pony rides for our three kids, but at $20 a ride we decided against it. Inside you can buy little bags of food for $3 to feed the goats, alpaca, donkeys and mini pony that are outside. It was extremely depressing-the animals are starving and look shabby and underfed. The pens were filthy and all the hay was wet. The animals were climbing over each other to get the little handfuls of food my kids were trying to give them-there was no other food to be seen and the water was dirty. One of the alpaca had a dirty wet bandage on his leg that was covered in flies. All the animals had bulging eyes and lunged at you to get the food-my kids were a little scared. The donkeys whined to get food. It was horrible. Inside, the shop was nice but smelled so bad we couldn’t stay long-my husband thought it was chickens, I thought it was fish-the smell apparently was coming from a parrots cage in the back. It says on the website that the animals here are rescue animals, but we left thinking that the animals really need to be rescued from this place! Definitely the worst part of our trip.

Cute place with ponies to feed. Nice gift shop with some unique items and toys, etc. to keep the kids occupied.

Cheerful visitor attraction with a store selling horse treats. Ponies were well maintained and the back area had another petting zoo with goats, donkeys, and mini-ponies.

My daughter absolutely loved the Chincoteague Pony Centre. We made arrangements for her to ride and the owners were great with her as it was her first time ever on a horse. She absolutely loved the ride and Alex and Cameron were great with her and kept her entertained and loving the experience the entire time. Rides cost 10$ but is worth it when your child loves animals! We found out the owners are new but we feel they did a great job on our visit and would recommend this as an activity great for kids when visiting Chincoteague. They also have a nice petting zoo with little ponies, donkeys and goats and a large gift shop.

I am terribly sorry - I forgot to update the web site. We are closed a couple of extra days this week so that we can take Hank and Story to their winter home. We ought to be back open on Saturday the 26th at 10am.
I don't know the answer to that & I'm not on the island anymore to get you the answer, sorry.
