Always fun at Citrus. Be careful with the washouts area on Trail 9, park ranger issued a ticket because trucks are not technically allowed to go up and down the washouts, only the trail is allowed. Ticket was $50 and only issued to the 1 truck he said up on the hill. Surprising since everyone always goes to do that…

Great hiking trails! The Florida National Scenic Trail goes through here as well as a few connecting loop trails that cross over and around it. There are 3 backpacking campsites also if you want to make a multi night trip out of it. The Withlacoochi biking trail also goes through Inverness on the north side of the forest.

Awesome nature preserve. We saw lots of deer, and other wildlife. Some trails can be really deep mud, or soft sand. Substantial 4 wheel drive and clearance is recommended ded.

I have yet to see showers there, but restrooms I have seen at the campgrounds. Holdermine being the most popular one and open year round.
Backpacking no, primitive campsite yes.
Trail 10 is paved until the camp ground.
Dogs are allowed on a leash. Not sure about any place to swim.
Try the park ranger

There are blueberries out there this time of year. I picked a pint last week & a half gallon a couple weeks ago. They're drying up though & you have to find a good spot. This year it's the northwest. Technically, it is not legal to harvest them but no one will ever bother you.
The caves are not easy to find. I did not find a paper map there for the public.
If park talking about.. Parking area then boat to park or simply walk in park believe shuttle to. But there plenty hidden trails and roads to 4x4 around area.. Try back dame caves made jeeps and high trucks
No! ATVs are not allowed on Citrus. Only at Croom WMA.
If you buy a management stamp you dont pay the daily fee
It's free, you need to create an account on the swfwmd website and reserve the days. It's 7 days 6 nights with a day in between reservations. If it fails it will tell you why. Closure dates listed at the bottom of the page for every site and yo can request a book of all the sites from the same website. Hope this helps
If your vehicle is tagged and registered you can drive on any numbered road. There is no Jeep trails. There is horse trails.
Yes go-to myfwc.com and follow the site for dates and regs.
I am not sure if they allow dirt bikes or four wheelers, ATV s. I do know they used to allow them a long time ago. I know there are jeep clubs that love the trails. They have a lot of horse trails as well, where motorized vehicles are not allowed. I would recommend checking their website or giving them a call. But I want to say probably not. But the woods are huge and if you own a truck it would be worth driving there to check it out in person first and ride aroynd.
There are a variety of trails for different types of vehicle's. We travel the jeep trails, some are pretty deep.
yes but in designated areas
No. Year round hog hunting is only allowed on private property.
You cannot hunt at Tillis Hill
You can get around in 2wd but be careful where you pull off. 13 and 10 are probably the best maintained but Lots of sugar sand. Note that There are hunters in the woods as small game season is on for about the next two months
Yep, there sure is primitive camping in certain areas. Also, for fellow horse lovers- connected is the Tillis Hill area, for trail riding and on site stalls to camp out together if you want to! Horses must have current Coggins health certificate. Enjoy! 🐴🐎💜
