Wonderful people and beautiful birds with different stories that have been rescued. Went for a first visit and will be going back to see if one of the birds will take a liking to us. Its a nice property and sanctuary. A learning experience

I had to take two budgies there tearfully that I developed breathing issues with, from owning them. I spent 3 months talking singing abs playing sift music to. But they were unhappy. We think they missed their friends. We bought from a pet shop. We never ever do this And regretted it. They were terrified of coming out if their huge cage nevertheless We tried and tried. Picking them up was out of the question. They started to need to fly and one started getting angry with the other. It was distressing to see. They knew my voice and responded but not enough To get them to trust me to touch or coax them out of the cage. Then i started having to use my inhaler a lot.’ We kept that cage immaculate. Even so. We were guided to Birds of Paradise that was an amazing sanctuary for all sorts of birds. I was assured they would end up in a big aviary with lots of friends again. And live out the rest of their lives Happily there. I donated and will donate in future. The parrots were incredible too. They rely on donations. If you are a bird lover please please donate. They are by appointment only to go there. It’s a relief to know they will be somewhere safe and happy.

Today my Daisy Mae went to live her life out at BOPS. Debbie’s love and dedication is ever-present in this magical place that houses (and loves) those who have been abused, forgotten, or through no fault of their own lost their homes (owner to illness or death). The birds are all well fed, secure, watered and enriched with natural sunlight, toys and each other. These bright and intelligent birds are loved and spoiled until their days are up. Some of the “pet quality” birds are even adopted out to loving homes where they are treasured. Thank you to Debbie and her small army of volunteers who make this all possible. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had a very tough personal situation and Debbie was more than understanding and cared for my birds until I could get them back. This is a rescue that is NOT just here for money. She does what is in the bird's best interest and does not just adopt them out to anyone just because they have money. She has over 250 birds, only 6 are up for adoption and they're less than $500 a piece so anyone who thinks she is in this for money is crazy. She is not rude at all, she is very professional and doesn't mince words. She was very easy to reach and stayed in communication with me. Great place and great woman.

When thinking about getting a bird the initial price is only one factor. Birds need cages, food, toys...attention, love... If you are worried about the initial price I suggest you set aside a bird allowance for awhile. When you are comfortable with the amount in your fund as well as putting away that much or more forever because birds live a very, very long time, then look into adoption. 🦜
With an appointment only.
Please fill out ann adoption application on our website. thanks www.birdsofparadise.org

I dropped my friend's bird off at the bird sanctuary. It was very welcoming and I would do it again. (My friend passed away and we wanted to do something good for the bird).
