This is a complaint specifically for the Allergy Testing Clinic. The white man with glasses working the Check In/Out area on June 30th around 12pm. I was checking out when he asked me, “Are you travel?” To which I responded, “I’m not sure what that is.” He replied, “If you don’t know what it is then it doesn’t apply to you.” Confused as to why he wouldn’t explain it to me I called the main VA hospital line and spoke with a much nicer gentleman who explained to me what the benefit entails and as it turns out it did apply to me. Not only was this my very first time at this VA clinic. It was the second appointment I have had overall since moving to Florida where I now have to travel over an hour to get to my appointments. I do not appreciate being dismissed like that for simply not knowing. I have asked fellow veterans if they were aware of this benefit and to no surprise they weren’t aware of it either. Furthermore, had a veteran walked in with a cognitive disability, TBI, or other memory impairment it would greatly benefit them to know the details of the question and what they are entitled to. It is widely known that veterans don’t know the entirety of their benefits from one place to the next, and dismissing them only amplifies the disappointment we have towards the organization known for not giving its veterans what they need. If you’re a veteran and you’re reading this know that you may be eligible for travel reimbursement if- You have a VA disability rating of 30% or higher, or You’re traveling for treatment of a service-connected condition, even if your VA disability rating is less than 30%, or You receive a VA pension, or You have an income that’s below the maximum annual VA pension rate, or You can’t afford to pay for your travel, as defined by our guidelines, or You’re traveling for one of these reasons: A scheduled VA claim exam (also called a compensation and pension, or C&P, exam), to get a service dog, or for VA-approved transplant care

For three years I had a primary care provider at James Haley do absolutely nothing for me. This person would turn the computer monitor around and heckle me about my weight. They accused me of lying when I went in for help for my service connected disabilities. This person refused me allergy testing unless I got rid of my cats (I've never been allergic to cats or any animals). My conditions grew worse and I begged for help but they didn't care. Now I can no longer work because my nerve damage is so bad from the lack of help that I have chronic pain migraines and problems walking etc. Thankfully this primary retired, but many veterans such as myself continue to suffer without adequate care. I have since moved, had a wonderful doctor, yet they left and now back to square one. I used to get an appointment within a week or less now it's a month if I'm lucky and specialty clinics forget it, you'll wait several months to a year. Community care is a pain with them and their gynecologist is rude and lazy. I requested her to do a hysterectomy as I've been suffering for years but she gave me the cold shoulder and every poor excuse in the book as to why she's too lazy to do that. Plus, I felt she discriminated me.

This is the best VA hospital I've experienced. Everyone is very helpful, kind, and genuinely cares for veterans. The spinal cord injury unit is top shelf! They have checked off every block and then some. I'm very impressed and would recommend this VA to any veteran. Keep up the high standards!!

We moved to Florida 8 years ago and my husband began getting treatment at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. We cannot say enough about this hospital, the personal service, attention and caring that they provide to my husband is unbelievable. Their follow-ups to appointments and their follow-up calls to respond with any questions is the best. We are very satisfied with this hospital. We need a little patience with them, as they are trying to get the best services they can provide to all Veterans, especially during these pandemic times. They are heroes who continue to their job, always thinking of their patients first. Thanks to all involved in my husband's health. 'KUDOS' to all, you are very much appreciated.

Use the walk in clinic on 38th off Flecher. In Tampa
Yes it does. On Fridays at 1630 to 1730 in the SCI Middle Dining Room
https://www.va.gov/records/get-military-service-records/
Overflow parking is best bet Located on 131st across from Walmart's. Shuttle every 15 min. Different shuttle depending where you want to go, front door, ER area, SCI, parking garage, etc. Valet parking at this offsite FREEDOM lot. Best bet is if possible schedule on weekends. I schedule all my MRIs and CT Scans on weekends, less traffic on Interstate hiways and parking is loosened up.
Please don't comment if you don't know Mr. Mirza. Turn off 30th st.(Bruce B. Downs) go west to the trailers on your left, park in the lot in front of them. 81 is the first one.
Not sure. You need to call the facility directly.
Contact volunteer services on the second floor.
If you're talking about how long it takes to become a patient there, call 813-972-2000, press 0 for the operator and ask for the Eligibility department and they can give you the information you need. You can't even park there in 5 minutes - that's not funny.
Yes.
Do you think that he is still in hospital ??i can go up to the 5th floor if that would help
At the VA you need a security password. They can not confirm or deny without it. It is best to ask a family member.
No. Those is a referral hospital. Appointments are made by the physician at the clinic.
I believe you would have to go to the office of Release of Information at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. They should be able to help you. I'm not 100% sure where they are located, but ask someone at the infomation desk.
Make an appointment with the security office. They will issue you a new PIV card and id
Not sure I understand your problem.
Ortho is located right next to the emergency room
CCU 3rd floor in main hospital. There are always helpful staff to ask as well.
Call the hospital ask them but I believe you can. Call them first you probably have to make an appointment.
Right across the street
Usually the only place to park is the parking garage! There is a shuttle that will know where you need to go.
Call 813 972 2000 stay.on thru the promps and.operTer will come on and tell them patient name they will get you to correct person
Yes, only one visitor per day 12-8pm (as of yesterday 4/14). They started allowing visitors into again on 4/1. I would call to verify this information just incase it changes before you go.
SCI Dining by appointment
Come in SCI. Go straight until the long hallway that goes left or right. Take a left.
Through your primary doctor at the va you should have one assigned to you.
Go to the SCI/Polytrauma entrance. Head to the info desk on your left and they'll give you a map and direct you. It's listed as bldg 32 on the map but it isn't a "separate" bldg. Please allow for scanning protocol. You can
Are any of you veterans
Call 813 972-2000 and ask the operator for dental
Medical records, ROI office
Are you a patient or employee and where do you live.
I believe so. 1st floor
Yes
Let them know when she checks in for her appointment
It's a hospital not a garden service....
Mr Battles
Hello Judi: Here's a recent article on James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital-Tampa Florida "Haley recognized for ACS community partnership" July 29, 2019. [https://www.tampa.va.gov/features/Community_Partnership_Award.asp] Hope that you find this helpful.
FYI: "Human Resources, Bldg. 41, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Potential applicants can view job announcements, get information about federal benefits and speak with human resource assistants." Resource: https://www.tampa.va.gov/careers/index.asp Best to your Success!
Behind the main hospital, you'll see a roundabout with several flags, near the parking garage tower.
Due to construction it may be difficult but there's an entrance from Bruce B Downs Blvd you can follow to ER
There is at Spinal Cord Injury lot but I think they should only hire veterans as valets not privet companies. God Bless Thank him for his or her Service.
You can still get to it from the main hospital, help desk can guide you there
Yes there is, ground floor at the woman center during construction, used at least 6 times in last few years. You will need referral from your va primary care. They have Saturday appointed.
Actually they r open from 6am-5pm m-f and 7am-12pm on sat. U r best to make an appt. There so that u don't have to wait. Just call the main hospital line and ask the operater to transfer u.
With all of the construction going on, it is not ideal. However, there are multiple places that parking is available and shuttle services to and from the hospital.
I am not sure did u receive an appointment card? If so if u could tell me what is on it I can tell u where to go. Otherwise I can recommend that u park in the freedom parking g lot behind the Wawa off of fleet her Ave. Take the shuttle to the main entrance of the hospital and ask someone at the front desk and they can direct u. The shuttles for the main entrance run about every ten-fifteen minutes.
They may have changed since I was last there. I would call 813.972.2000 for the most current information.
U don't need to email them if u r signed up for www.myhealthevets.va.gov then u can just download what u need. U do however need to have it verified in order to use message portion of it. Maybe u can have someone bring the form to u to sign and then back to the hospital library for verification. Sign up online its easy just follow the steps.
I think it is possible. I will need to contact a social worker.
I would suggest that you should check the Veteran Affairs website.
The James Haley Veterans Hospital is in Hillsborough County at 13000 Bruce B Downs Blvd on the West side of the USF, Between Fletcher Ave. and Fowler Ave. There is a large Sky Walk Way between the VA and USF. It is the Busiest VA Hospital in CONUS after the Puerto Rico VA Medical Ctr.
The doctors and nurses go out of their way to make you healthy. Everyone is always willing to help, from the housekeeper to the director of the hospital.
Yes there is an er and an urgent care that is run out of the er. If u r already in the va system u should be able to transfer to a new team here. There r also clinics in the outlying areas around tampa. U can check into using one of those as well. I think u will find there r many options for u. Your primary will be the easiest to see though. The specialty clinics do take time to get into. I hope this helps
I would reach out to your respective provider's nurse be it on team Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc. and ask them about the specific physical exam.
There is no sick call but u can go to urgent care which is located inside the hospital by the er department. Not sure on the times but i imagine they open at 8 like everything else
Call your pact team nurse and primary care provider or they may also be available on your health vet account
My Father Was Put Into A Nursing Home Against My Father's Wishes, and mine. I Have Durable POA Over my Dad, and Medical POA Over my Father and my Family got involved and broke Every Law Taking from me and Dopping him up and Wanting him to pass away so they can get his $$. But I Have All Right's by Law to His Health Ins. Picy
Thursday - Saturday are sure to be the busiest! I like to go on Mondays or Tuesdays when its slow.
U need to be referred to the pain clinic and then if they determine that will help they will refer u to the person whom will send u there. It is a long process
The vet could either contact his pharmacy and have it sent to a temporary address or go to the ER who will send the vet to be input into the Tampa VA system before any medications are given.
Yes
If you are a 2 person assist, your primary care social worker may be able to set up transportation for medical appointments
Any VA hospital or outpatient clinic will be able to do this.
Not sure any more on this one. Used to be two months or more. That was like a year ago. Your primary or pain management team can help with that
Yes. Call fir more info.
You need to make an appointment with your primary care doctor. If it's an emergency you can go directly to the eye doctor between 8 and 5
Recall MD at hearing clinic near you or try your primary care.
Certainly, they will take him. However he must want help as they cannot keep him.
I just received my full dentures from VA in Coatesville. They're available here!
6:30 in the morning
