Used to be amazing here. But things have changed post-Covid. The hotel was dirty, the service was horrible and very frustrating. We had to mop our floors because upon check-in there was sticky liquid and mud all over the floor. The dishwasher had exploded and soap was running down that as well. The staff was extremely rude. Had to ask multiple times to receive simple supplies such as soap/towels and never received them. On check-out day we were repeatedly harassed by staff rushing us out of our room as we were packing. Then several phone calls were made to the room telling us to get out. Not only are we ambassadors but we are repeat guests and we are sad that we will never come back. Sad to have waisted several thousand dollars on staying here. I do NOT recommend staying here.

This property has been consistently exceptional for 15+ years. There are activities for the whole family and the views are unbeatable. Plus, we love supporting the Marriott family. It is truly a slice of heaven on earth here :)

BEWARE OF MARKETING OFFERINGS!!! A one rating was more than generous for this visit. We visited the resort on a $1K “marketing package” that was offered as we are original owner in the resort. While the resort is typically great, this visit set the mark for horrible room and support from guest services. The location of the room, 3734, is suitable for a storage closet as it has no view and sit next to all the buildings AC units so it close to impossible to have a conversation on the patio. The front desk, and all their management, gives the pat answer that not their issue and passes the buck to marketing dept (that is avoiding contact) Owners, you are probably good but marketing guest, or probably paying guests, BEWARE THAT YOU MAY GET A ROOM THIS BAD

Well, I found a bug crawling out of the sink. Also, the people at the front desk were quite rude. It was my birthday weekend, and we requested the ocean view room, which they stated upon arrival was no longer available. Also, I found a toothpick on the floor in the kitchen. Perhaps the previous guest had their fill literally. Also, the toilet made funny noises saying swoosh and shhh. Then the man upstairs was making so much noise. I asked could I move my room, and they said we typically don't move a party to another room once they have checked in. For the love of whoever, please don't stay in the 1000 or 2000 villas for that matter. Please don't believe it's a new property lie because it isn't. All jokes aside, please stay at another hotel unless you want to deal with snarky remarks, unclean floors, and slow trolleys. I might suggest Pelican Resort and Golf Club... a beautiful hotel. Far better service and more amenities.

Yes..they have activities for families, except you have to purchase the marshmallow packs if you want one. There are adult activities like wine and paint, not sure about wine tasting tho.
Yes. The kitchens are fully stocked including a drip coffee machine and filters.
We were there the week of Oct. 4. The beaches were closed.
Yes
We had to uber all over the shuttle stays close only goes within a couple miles of the resort. Definitely go to nicks mexican food in Laguna it was out of this world not just the food but the service.
Santa Barbara and Santa Monica are far. I’d say about an hour to Santa Monica and about 2 1/2 hours toSanta Barbara if traffic isn’t bad, but it’s usually bad.
Yes to all. Great location for families.
The interior rooms vs the ends have the smaller balconies! Ask for end unit!
It was not open when we were there 21 - 26 January 2022.
Unfortunately, no. We've been Marriott owners for 20 years. Don't know of any hotel that allows pets.
Pretty much year around highs are in the 70's and the lows are in the 50's. You can also Google Newport Beach weather by month and get more in depth breakdown
No but there are stores closer to the surf where you can rent them.
There is no golfing at the resort itself, but I believe there are places nearby.
It is self parking only.
I don't know. Call the railroad for info.
Not on the beach. You can see the ocean. There is a free shuttle to the beach from the resort. Takes less than 5 minutes
The beach is down the hill and across Pacific Coast Highway from the hotel. It's a long walk
We had an ocean view in the bottom floor of the 1600 building, but it's a distant view.
Yes they have multiple courts activities throughout the property for your enjoyment. And I do recommend that you go and stay for the weekend and take up some sun and watch the beautiful sunset during the evenings, you won't regret a single moment of pure relaxation.
For what use? Child (?? Maybe by request)..inside the rooms (yes)..poolside (yes)..lobby (no)... Does this helped.. Can always call the Villa.
It has variety of stuff, basket ball, mini golf, picnic area and many more.. you can walk down or take a shuttle..
Use the last name that the room is registered to and the room number
Service animals only, no pets.
All Villas are two bedroom. No connecting units.
They have cribs
Agree with Chet, drove past John Wayne on the way down from Northern California.
Pavilions and a shopping center are minutes away. Very good restaurants for takeout also .
Assuming you mean in San Diego cruise ship terminal, you will have to take an Uber north on Hwy. 1. The train does come close to Villas.
They were provided free for water aerobics, but for the last two weeks they have only had water weights for classes. If it's important to you bring your own.
Yes
I have seen a similar thing recently where someone picked up a boxed cake from the concierge. Call ahead and ask, I can't imagine that not being accommodated at a Marriott.
They don't have a golf course, but across the road is Pelican Hill golf course. I'm not sure what they charge.
SNA- John Wayne airport is about 15 minutes away in light traffic.
Yes.
