As a kid this place was amazing, it's still got a lot to to offer but sadly the beach is gone and you can't swim here anymore due to hurricane Irene in 2011 great playground and you can rent out pavilions for day use.

Really enjoyed our time at Townshend this summer. We stayed 2 nights for the fourth of July and it was awesome. There is some noise from traffic but it's truly minimal depending on what site you pick. There are coin operated showers and clean well lit bathrooms. The park rangers are extremely nice and will come out to your site if they need to. Attached are some photos of our site and the restrooms. One thing to consider if your tent has a platform is how big your tent is. Our tent wouldn't fit on the platform but it's was a pretty big tent. If you aren't sure just get a spot without a platform and you'll be fine. Happy Camping. Hope this helps!

Great place. Has awesome view, nice little swimming area, parking, and nice little play areas for kids. You can also rent the play areas for like kids birthday partys.
