Such a great place to hike!! The view is absolutely gorgeous every way you look. There are lots of different trails to follow and different lengths as well so it’s perfect depending on how far down you would like to go. It’s right by Half Moon Bay so the weather is perfect for a hike!

Again we did a partial trail so not much to say here. On a Saturday evening it was much less crowded. The first loop is an easy hike and peaceful.

Winding and narrow road to get there. I parked on roadside near a trailhead. Maybe there are parking lots somewhere else. Not crowded at all on a Monday morning. There was a simple restroom. Didn’t use it. The redwoods were awesome. The trail I took was almost completely shaded. Many wildflowers. Need to allocate more time for the rest of the trails.

Nothing short of 5 star experience..long trail, scenic views, dense trees. It has all the ingredients of a good hike. Fantastic, as good as it could be ! Has elevation at some points, overall has decent moisture with the dense forest cover that keeps it cool too. Has options for trails too

No, dogs are actually not allowed (service animals being the exception of course). This is due to being a preserve... most preserves/state parks do not allow dogs, leash or not. Some have exceptions though if there is onsite camping and you have paid a dog fee.
Sure, try the fire roads.
No.
Do you want to go up, then down, or down then up? The lower parking lot is accessible from Hwy 1, the upper from 35/skyline. Are you coming direct from San Diego to the hike, or starting from accommodation in HMB? Assuming you are coming North from SD, 5 to 135 (or is it 153?) pacheco pass, then 101 to 84, which will connect you to 35 or 1. 84 normally runs faster than 92 on weekend mornings in the summer. If you're starting from HMB, and want the lower parking lot, i find it easier heading south on 1 to Verde, and approach that way. If you take the road from behind the fire station, Higgins Canyon, is long and wiggly. The lower lot only has about 6 spaces, but people park along the first half mile of road before.
From the entrance on Skyline, several miles downhill (which you will have to climb back up). From the entrance a ways off of Hwy 1 (with essentially no parking), it's a couple minutes walk, flat. A circuit between the two entrances is about 7 miles, and pretty steep to climb back to the Skyline entrance.
@Mad I'd say Medium. The toughest part would be steep grade with loose gravel. If you are good at applying even pressure/stroke and have fatty tires with nubbies, you'll be ok. If not you can walk your bike up.
From the website, parks are open one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset: https://www.openspace.org/preserves/purisima-creek-redwoods
Park at the bottom parking lot and stroll along the creek as far as he can handle
Everything was open!
No, dogs are not allowed.
Absolutely Not. Clearly posted no dogs and you will be ticketed. See the enclosed brochure.
Open Space periodically leads guided hikes, but not on a regular schedule.
