An outstanding place to walk and enjoy the beauty of the ocean. Make sure to take the steps or ramp, the cliffs can be very dangerous.

The Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail grants you access to great views of the bluffs and beaches. The wildflowers and non-native flowers are plentiful. Some of the bluff edges are unstable. Be aware to use the main entrance points to the beaches (Venice, Dunes, Francis, and Poplar).

There is a nice, large parking lot at Francis Beach with easy trail access, restrooms and a visitor center. Parking lots also available at Poplar Beach as well as Dunes Beach. Most of these state beach lots have a $10 parking fee. Park rangers also tend to come around and kick everyone out after sunset (although I have seen cars parked at night near Dunes Beach, but it's a bit more sketchy), so if you need to be parked later than that, I'd find a lot at a nearby business (as long as it's not private property) or street parking. This trail runs all the way from Wavecrest up to Miramar, so there are multiple parking options along the way, depending on which part of the trail you want to hike.

Is the trail paved or dirt?
