It’s more like a prison than hospital. I felt unsafe there. A staff member touched me inappropriately. I received hardly any mental health services. They have a schedule posted on the wall with daily trauma recovery groups, substance abuse group, exercise, and education groups. Most of which didn’t happen. There was about an hour of organized group activities in 5 days. In the 5 days, they let us outside for about 30 minutes. They served us undercooked food. They extended my time because they didn’t have a psychiatrist to ‘monitor me’ (aka talk to me for 15 minutes) the first days I was there. They were very disorganized about informing me on my case The units had both men and women. You couldn’t close the door at night or when showering and anyone could easily walk in your room. They don’t do a good job at separating the units in despite some one unit in particular with people who were violent. People were pacing back and forth in the halls because our limbs were stiff. We were like caged animals. In the short time I talked to one of the psychiatrists there, he kept just telling me to use my coping skills. But my coping skills - exercise, meditation (it’s a loud place with panic attacks and violence) were all taken away from me in there. It was by far the most traumatic experience of my life. It was hell, and it’s the last place someone should be in a mental health crisis.

I went there and the staff was kinda rude but some of them where nice, but I mainly have a problem with the fact that you cant exchange numbers or anything with the other patients, they put us in rooms together all day and expect us not to wanna keep talking to them when we get out. I get why they do it I just think it’s kinda dumb lol

It is constantly cold which makes it hard to sleep. The loud staff and constant door slamming don’t help either. Understaffed. Feels like some of the workers care but a lot don’t. I experienced a crisis when I found out I had to stay longer. I also witnessed other patients experiencing moments of crisis and the staff would walk by and ignore us. My stay was arbitrarily extended for no reason and on the 3rd day I was also made to sign a form saying that whatever my insurance wouldn’t cover I would have to pay out of pocket. When I asked if I could refuse they said it wouldn’t make a difference. I tried to contest my extension and the soonest I could get was two days away. Conveniently on my discharge date. They act shocked when you show any frustration or show that you don’t want to be there. You have to pretend like you’re enjoying yourself in the hopes of getting out. There is little to no information on your case or any progress. Meetings with psychiatrists are short. There really is not much to do.

I’m sharing this review not with the intention of “snitching” or “griping” but with the intention of protecting anyone who may seek help here. Look elsewhere. My little brother was transferred here from the ER after some severely extenuating circumstances. We were told this facility was the best of the best. My family and I feel betrayed by the system. Any questions we posed to the staff went unanswered or ignored/forgotten. Visitation (or in this case, phone call) hours are hectic and near impossible to navigate, but I cannot blame the staff for that. Every time I spoke to my brother on the phone he sounded more and more drained and defeated. The rooms are too cold and they deny their patients extra blankets. My brother also reported an instance of violence in which a staff member, apparently the manager, Ray, assaulted a number of patients and sedated several more without known reason. Multiple patients were triggered into panic attacks and have collected complaint forms, including my brother. We have been kept in the dark for his whole stay, despite being promised phone calls from psychiatrist and social workers on duty. This place is incredibly upsetting to hear about, and I am furious that the health care system has failed my brother so severely.

Hi, I too see a lot of negative reviews for Aurora Santa Rosa hospital, but I think that they aren’t well justified. And, I speak from personal experience. And, I’m going to tell you about why I think Santa Rosa Aurora Hospital is a very good institution staffed with doctors, therapists, BHAs, and good chefs. I personally was having problems with my mental health, and Santa Rosa Aurora is not the first Behavioral Health in which I have been hospitalized, but it is the only one in my experience that really felt helpful. At Santa Rosa, I had a good psychiatrist who acts like a professional without being condescending and very good group therapy, such as feeling conversations and an arts and crafts class. Nobody wants to be in behavioral health, but you could be in much worse places than Santa Rosa. It’s also clean and the amenities are not bad. You won’t have any problems talking to family or friends if they want to talk to you here.

If you can find out when visiting hours are and go see her. Other than that I believe according to HIPAA they can't give or receive information.
Check in with these folks and see what kind of help they can offer. Itll get better.
Actually, it's the doctors decision to either extend or terminate the hold. If they think you're a danger to yourself or others they can keep you for up to seven to ten days. You will have to sign paperwork to acknowledge the fact of a further hold if you have reached the age of majority (18 in the United States). If you're under the age of 18 a legal guardian must sign the paperwork. If you or your legal guardian disagree with the hold Aurora must allow to plead your case and then ultimately the Judge has final say in the matter
