Hi, I too see a lot of negative reviews for Aurora Santa Rosa hospital, but I think that they aren’t well justified. And, I speak from personal experience. And, I’m going to tell you about why I think Santa Rosa Aurora Hospital is a very good institution staffed with doctors, therapists, BHAs, and good chefs. I personally was having problems with my mental health, and Santa Rosa Aurora is not the first Behavioral Health in which I have been hospitalized, but it is the only one in my experience that really felt helpful. At Santa Rosa, I had a good psychiatrist who acts like a professional without being condescending and very good group therapy, such as feeling conversations and an arts and crafts class. Nobody wants to be in behavioral health, but you could be in much worse places than Santa Rosa. It’s also clean and the amenities are not bad. You won’t have any problems talking to family or friends if they want to talk to you here.
Hello Brittany, I do not know about Aurora specifically. But as no one has replied...I have a lot of experience with relatives needing treatment. I would say the primary problem is not being able to get loved ones into programs ( unless you are wealthy) If your sister is admitted that is a positive. I would say make sure to keep and eye on her. Call, keep notes, document and visit. Ask questions and make sure staff know loved ones are involved. also Look up NAMI - they are a great resource.
My daughter is on her way there now and reading all the negative reviews has me very worried and concerned and wanting to go pick her up
Hello Brittany, It can be frightening when a loved one is experiencing mental health issues, especially if you are not familiar with the hospital programs or staff. While our patients are our very first care and we do everything we can to help them feel comfortable staying with us through their treatment, we also know some of our patients simply do not want to be here. Call to find out when family meetings are scheduled and when visitation hours are held. You can check in with your sister and with our staff during those times. Thank you for writing to us.
