Service was great, food was delicious. Great atmosphere. We had the family style all you can eat meal, the food was so good that I forgot to snap pics. The amount of sides that you get with the family style meal is amazing and they keep the bowls full. It's all you can eat fried chicken with corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, dumplings gravy, coleslaw and biscuits, but to get the family style meal you have to have at least 3 people in your party.

Good food, a lovely wooded location. The service was fast and friendly for our very large group. My only complaint is that I wish there was better signage leading to the building. It can be a bit easy to miss if you are not careful :) Cool viewing tower shares the parking lot too!

Stayed here for a night to attend the SIU open house. Wonderful experience! I read the reviews of the hotels in town and actually wanted to sleep after a 5 hour drive - not listen to bar music all night. Found this gem and happy I did. The lodge and forest are worth the visit itself but it's the people who really make it! Friendly and accommodating with great information about local things to do. The restaurant staff were attentive and recommendations were spot on (salmon and BBQ chicken!). The cabins are clean with comfy beds, absorbent towels (I hate those cardboard ones at some places!), and good water pressure. Recommend if you want a bit of peace and quiet that's close to town.

The food was really good (I highly recommend the fried chicken and the steak burger) and the cocktails were great (I also highly recommend the Makanda Mule), but the real shining star was the brownie with vanilla, chocolate, and brown sugar cinnamon ice creams on top in addition to perfect whipped cream. Our server (I think her name was Natalie, maybe?) was absolutely amazing and so personable and bubbly. She chatted with me about the hiking trails and gave amazing recommendations on both the food and the trails. We're already planning to make another trip back to this park and the Lodge Restaurant is a big part of the reason why. And it's so conveniently located right across the parking lot from the cabins available to rent!

They are called the Bluff Cabins. Located on the backside of the parking lot between the Lodge and water tower nestled in the woods. A small path down takes you to them.
Omy Lord thats awful
I don't believe this number of guests is a problem. You can call them about the cost.
I think they close at 8
I believe there is no cooking allowed inside or outside of the cabins. So I don't believe there are any kitchens inside the cabins.
You do have to go to a shelter to cook or grill. The park does not want any cooking near the cabins. The shelters are scattered throughout the park, the closest one is just a few blocks away.
