Great short hike with a small waterfall at the end

Around an hour to finish. It’s better coming here after rainfalls if you want to see waterfalls. The anti clockwise walking can be fun.

First off, trail is open, there is a short walk from where you have to park to the trail head. Less than a quarter mile. Trail is serene and mostly shaded by the trees. There is an abundance of very ambitious orb spiders webbing the trail in hopes of capturing their Thanksgiving Feast early. I was told there are copperhead’s and other snakes, but I did not see any. Coming from Colorado, the humidity was difficult, but the trail is fairly easy to track. If you’re directionally challenged, screenshot your map prior. There are a few posted signs, but a lot of places to wonder off course.

Beautiful views. Nice long trail. It's a little steep in areas. I do not suggest drinking and taking the long trail 😂.

Near the campground about 1/2 mile away at a box called the iron ranger. At 37.646241,-89.106685 you do not need to go all the way to 148 visitor center. Drop this number into Google maps 37.646241,-89.106685 and it's a self service permit box.
