My husband and I visited southern IL for our 17th anniversary and we were so glad we chose Makanda Inn to stay at. Wow! We stayed in the Indigo cottage which was so beautiful and so well thought out regarding design, functionality, and was nicely stocked with supplies and necessities including delicious freshly ground coffee! The views were beautiful and likely will only get better as the grounds come back to life. The main lodge was also beautiful and an easy walk to access for breakfast, a night cap, and internet access. The breakfasts were delicious and hearty for a full morning of hiking and exploring the parks. The inn keeper/chef, Jackie and Kyle, are a wonderful asset to the Inn. They were professional, friendly, and available at all times. We felt totally comfortable and safe. Everything was spotless and beautiful. We hope to return in the Fall!

I hesitate to write this review because I don’t want other people to know how amazing it is and make it impossible to book! This place is truly a treasure if you’re looking for a nice few days to unplug. Situated in the most beautiful place in Illinois, next to gorgeous hiking trails and wineries, it’s a wonderful base camp to explore. It would also be great to just cozy up and never leave! The cottages are well equipped, comfortable and quiet. From a nice secluded porch to sit and drink coffee and watch birds to a fabulous soaking tub with a view of the tree tops, it really is fantastic. I cannot wait to go back!

Tucked away in the woods & the nicest people I’ve met! The best vacation I have ever been on! The inn keepers, Kyle and Jackie, made the stay so relaxing & they were so personable to talk to! My boyfriend & I will be back soon!!

My fiancé and I had an amazing weekend getaway to the Makanda Inn. We stayed in the Indigo Cottage and it was a wonderful experience. Such a cute and cozy feel, I genuinely loved how the cottage was decorated. Makanda is pretty far from home but we made the trip out specifically to come here and I’m SO glad we did. Everything from the hospitality of the staff, the soaking tub, the beautiful scenery, the breakfast (definitely add breakfast if you’re staying in the cottage it’s worth it) made our stay incredible. I wouldn’t change a single thing about this unique property and we will 100% be returning in the future!!!

We appreciate the interest for the next solar eclipse in Makanda and your interest in Makanda Inn & Cottages. Planning for this event will take place approximately 18 months before the eclipse. Bookings will start about one year before the eclipse date. Due to the limited number of accommodations and the overwhelming number of requests a wait list is not practical. Thanks for your understanding. We thank you for your interest in the Makanda Inn & Cottages and hope you will consider us when visiting the area at other times.
