The Sawtelle Nijiya is one of the closest Asian grocery stores near Westwood, and it’s super easy for students to bus there via the 17. It’s also convenient because of the location and its close proximity to Daiso and other food places if you’re interested in hitting multiple birds with one stone. Although this Nijiya is smaller than other ones I’ve been to, there is still a pretty wide selection of snacks and drinks. They also have some essential Asian groceries including rice flour, fish cake, and tapioca. However, the best part is the plethora of reasonably priced, easy takeout food - sushi, onigiri, teriyaki bowls, side dishes, and more - maybe it’s not restaurant quality but you definitely get what you pay for and more!

Small Japanese market, but with a good selection of specialty and imported groceries. Prices reasonable. Good selection of high quality fresh fish. Had real wasabi! Got everything we needed and more for sushi night.

Small but well stocked grocery store. They've some really great sushi meals too go as well as cooked dishes. The uni (sea urchin) package we got was ok, sweet but a hint of fishiness. It's really nice that they've got a sushi section with an open kitchen design. Protip: don't get the chirashi when they don't use sweet shrimp. Cherries were extremely pricy. The chutoro seemed more like toro

Cute little Japanese Asian supermarket in Sawtelle, located in the same plaza as Daiso and Beard Papa! Immediately when you walk in, there are a variety of refrigerated asian drinks to your right, and an assortment of sushi, bento boxes, and appetizers. Great for lunch or dinner on-the-go! These sushi prices are reasonable and their quality is better than supermarkets like Ralph's and Von's. Not as great as a restaurant quality of course but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Fresh produce and proteins (meats, eggs, tofu, etc.) are a bit pricy. However, I appreciate the assortments of sauces, noodles, and snacks in the market. Parking--oh so very difficult, but that's Sawtelle for you. There is a parking area in the mini mall plaza where it is located/there is lower ground parking/street parking. Nevertheless, highly recommend checking this place out!

No.
They sold daikon radish in the produce aisle as recently as last week.
Better call them first. I usually go there for specialty items you cant find at the 99 ranch market.
