It was cool. Took my daughter there like my dad took me when I was her age. Just wish there was more to do. They need to upgrade it bad. Also when I was young we could walk on the top and even drive over it. Now it's not allowed ever since 9/11 happened. There is a more indepth tour you can take that we learned about when we were there. It hard hat tour and they actually take you through the dam and around and up on top too. Definitely want to go back for that. Oh, just be aware of the fact that there is ALOT of spiders on the outside and the top.

Wish we could have gone inside but it is closed for the season. We did get to watch them shooting off fireworks to scare off the birds from eating the fish coming out of the pipe which was neat.

To start: you need to take in ID, but you aren't allowed any bags including diaper bags or purses. You are not allowed cameras or phones, and they all must be left in the car. Next: you don't actually get to see much of the dam outside of walking up to it. They have a fish ladder that you can walk right up to and see, if and only if you love thousands of giant spiders. I didn't know until I looked down at my toddler, who had one trying to climb on her. I jumped back, then felt a spiderweb against my face, I grabbed it to wipe it off and caught the sun reflecting off of it. I almost died. I've included a picture of the exact representation of the spiders ALL OVER THE DAM!!! We had to walk through the parking lot and couldn't even look at the ladder because the spiders were connecting their webbs off of the parked employee cars across the walkway. I wouldn't normally say I am afraid of spiders, but today I was put to the test hard core. Finally: seeing the fish through some windows inside the visitors center was cool, the kids liked that, the visitors center isn't very large, but there is a theater room with some short videos, and some pictures of the building of the dam. The staff are super friendly, but even they joke "don't worry, there's no spiders in here" So recap: the little visitor center was kinda neat, and the staff are super nice. Loved the history, but getting there...

My boyfriend and I went a couple weekends ago and they do tours every saturday at 10am and 1pm and Sunday at 1pm. You just have to show up and tell them your there for the tour. But if going in a large group I would suggest calling first.
There is no tour during winter. The volunteer staff leaves around the end of September.
