Beautiful place. Small public parking next to the firefighters. I recommend to do hiking after 5 p.m. because a sunny day can be really hot, and the sunset is beautiful.

Great place for an excellent ride. Lush and green with water in the creek for the first mile or so. Transition away from the water through scrub oak then onto open grassy rolling landscape. Awesome!

Soooo awesome!!! 6 easy miles!! Family/ pet friendly hike! Close to Julian Apple pie π₯§ Not far from San Diego and the rock itself is amazing!!!!

What a great hike. It took me about an hour to get there. The path is well marked. You get varying sceneries which makes it enjoyable. There is a majority of incline on the way there, which makes the way back mostly downhill. The second part has no shade so if itβs a warm day keep that in mind. Enjoy

This trail is part of the Pacific Crest Trail where there can be restrictions for dogs. However, the short answer to your question is:Yes, it's o.k. with a leash, water, snacks, and a method to "pack out the poop" That's good trail etiquette--- even for humans. Enjoy the hike, take lots of pictures!
Can't drive all the way to the rock.. you could park off the road approximately 0.25 miles from the rock and walk from there..

Depends on your pace. It's a little over 3 miles out. Not much ascent/climbing, fairly easy terrain. I think most people hike at a pace between 2 and 3 miles per hour so that would be 2-3 hrs out and back.
No pass needed to visit. Yes a permit to camp.
I did it a couple weeks ago and it was open. I'm sure it still is.
Need wilderness pass.
