Being retired, can I become part-time permanent at another facility that has cal pers?

Edna Adams | Feb 23, 2022
CalPERS San Diego Regional Office | Feb 23, 2022

Hi Edna, CalPERS retirees can also work as a retired annuitant for a CalPERS employer without reinstating from retirement; but there are restrictions. For example, CalPERS disability retirees cannot be employed in the same position from which they retired or in a position which includes duties or activities they were restricted from performing at the time of disability retirement. We recommend reading our Employment After Retirement (PUB 33) PDF for important details: https://www.calpers.ca.gov/docs/forms-publications/employment-after-retirement.pdf If you have any additional questions feel free to reach out to our contact center at 888 CalPERS (or 888-225-7377). They’re available Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Have a great day

MOLLY MCNALLY | Aug 22, 2021

Hi Molly, If you change your mind about your power of attorney, you must complete a new CalPERS Special Power of Attorney form (PDF) with your desired changes (form link below). To revoke or terminate your special power of attorney, you must submit a written request to: CalPERS Benefit Services Division P.O. Box 942716 Sacramento, CA 94229-2716 You can then submit a new power of attorney if you wish.
