One of our favorite hiking spots in the Kettle Moraine. We love to see the old buildings on this old farm and venture through the beautiful prairie. The sunset from the big hill is a must do!

The brochure at the trail head is helpful to explain the history of the property.. The creamery barn was interesting. Ingenious how they used the natural spring to keep their cream/milk cold..

Beautiful setting, but close to civilization with a bit of noise. So 3 stars, lose one for noise and another for being a bit busy. There's a great overlook that takes some effort to get to. Good thing was I didn't see anyone adventuring out to the big hill and had quite some area to myself. I spent about 4 hours out by the hill and walking about myself.

Very interesting nature trail with a lot of history. The property was once the Stute family farm. A few buildings are still on the property in addition to a couple natural springs. Areas of interest are marked and explained in self-guided tour brochures that can be found at the start of the trail. Most of the trail is well kept, however the upper trail leading to Big Hill is very narrow and a little over grown. BUT, the view is definitely worth it. Big Hill is the highest point in Kettle Moraine and I highly recommend taking the hike to the top if you do visit the trail. Lastly, the trail is free, however the parking lot was closed when I visited (August 2016). I easily parked at the Emma Carlin Trail Head a few yards down the street, but be aware that this is a fee area. All in all, a great piece of nature and history.
