Great job opportunity, flexible hours, health benefits, etc., and the fact that you are helping someone who needs assistance and making that difference in their lives. My only complaint is in the payment process. I've worked for a few companies in the past that used timesheets. When we handed in our timesheet, every one of those companies put top priority in getting our checks the next day. However, the payment process here is not as concerned about getting your check promptly. After you submit your timesheet, you have to wait about 5 days before you receive it DIRECT DEPOSIT!' One would think it would be sooner....I've even waited longer at times! Its really frustrating when you have bills coming due and having to explain that your direct deposit has still not arrived.

IHSS is a great program for elderly people or those who have mental or physical problems, but don't have the money to spend on personal care. They provide good help services for people who'd much rather remain in their own homes being cared for. Or that don't wanna or can't afford stay in a care facility or a retirement home etc.

I believe this is a State Medi=cal funded program. But I would call and check just to make sure.
It's not so much applying to be an IHSS worker you don't have to have a client what you have to do is go down to 77 Otis get the packet let them know you'd like to become a provider. They're going to ask you to do a background check which is a live Scan at Public Authority. if you pass your background check then they will place you on something called the registry or clients who are in need of providers can see you and your information and call you if they like to interview with you and then you take it from there and if they hire you you are hired LOL they aren't your actual boss you are an independent provider. But it is a vigorous background check you can have it no violence of any sort. Amongst other things. Long as you have a clean record you're good to go. I hope that was helpful.also if you are a certified caregiver you can apply with Public Authority to be an emergency on-call worker. Where you actually work for Public Authority and they send you to their clientele.
Thank you for your question. We are confirming with the Independent Provider Assistance Center (IPAC) if this can be done online. We will get back to you shortly.
The Public Authority provides IHSS Service Provider IDs in San Francisco County, if that's what you need. You can make an appointment to receive a www.sfihsspa.org.
No
Marilyn, if you worked for IHSS taking care of someone, then you were called a Care Provider and your supervisor was the person that you took care of, called the Consumer.
Hi Gordon, Please contact us via phone, if possible, so we can better assist you with your question. Our number is 415- 243-4477.
Please contact the IHSS eligibility & intake unit at (415) 355-6700.
Yes i think so
Yes. As long as she clears the Background check. But even if she has been convicted, she can still be your caregiver.
If you are registered with the IHSS Public Authority as a home care Provider and need to update your TB clearance/test, you can bring it or mail it to 832 Folsom St., 9th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94107.
