I haven't felt without a home since I arrived!! I live with a big "family" of big hearted people! It's one of the few places that aren't detox for people in difficult situations. You have to be clean, no drugs or alcohol allowed on site or in you unless doctor prescribed. Then it's like living in a college dorm! For all those who think the homeless are dirty, drug & alcohol infested criminals - if you don't have a hefty bank account it could be you in the blink of an eye! You are treated with kindness and dignity and given so much help and understanding. Those giving it a bad review have probably been asked to leave thru their own fault - pay no attention. Like all "families" we have squabbles, but we have love and tolerance...

I found myself homeless and in need of a safe place to stay, they were a huge boost in my over all health. Thank you so much for your help.

There’s reviews about this place that’ll scare you off. However don’t let those reviews stop you from reaching out. they have cameras secured at all the surrounding areas and the common areas. The people are a kind, generous, respectful, and full of life. There’s always a meal available so you don’t have to worry much about when your next meal will be. They’re goal oriented but won’t rush you into doing anything you’re not ready for. The staffs are kind at heart and they’re full of laughs. Everyone here is a family and we behave as such. I love it here and I wish everyone could get the same experience I’ve had living here..

No you do not have to be a Vermont resident. Our 89 North St. location is a sober environment and each guest has to go through an interview. No drop ins are allowed for 89 North St. Our Champlain Inn low barrier homeless shelter allows people to drop in and see if there are beds available. It is first come first serve. This shelter is located at 165 Shelburne Road.
