I have been living in a unit oversaw by BHA and managed by CHT for 3 years and I'm suffering from a critical infestation of bed bugs and mites. And they just don't care. Erlrich pest control has record of pest found by their own tech but refuses to release the proof. I sent Hannah and Ann my property mgrs photographic evidence they requested and still they will not treat my unit. I requested to be moved out of my unit but they are ignoring that as well. I've been suspended from my job which I love but they need to keep the environment sanitary for medical reasons. So I cannot work. But BHA requested my pay records so my VERAP will go away and I will now have to start paying rent. Also because I'm working now I do not qualify for food stamps. But I spend so much money on laundry, bug spray, etc that my check disappears rapidly and before next payday I cannot afford to eat. I wish I never moved to Vermont. I'm suicidal. My friends have all left me. I'm alone. All I have is my job to keep me going and CHT/BHA are letting my life be taken from me by something they can easily just throw money at. They received govt grant nearing $35million last year. But they can't authorize some pest solution as they promised in the lease we signed. I wish I never moved here. I wish I toughed it out back home. Anything is better than where I am now.

Their staff really aren't helpful and I wish I could give NEGATIVE stars. 2 examples of why just from the last 6 months: 1. Our (mine and my mother's) apartment's hot water (and usually the heat right along with it) has gone out somewhere between 6 and 8 times (I've lost track of the exact number) in the last two and a half WEEKS!!! Instead of properly fixing the hot water heater, replacing it or otherwise solving the issue, they just "reset the boiler" and we're out of hot water again in 24-48 hours, most of the time when one of us is in the middle of a shower. (I'll tell ya - you're shower suddenly starts to run so cold that it physically hurts and you're riskng going into shock if you stay in, but you've still gotta rinse the soap off your skin and the conditioner from your hair? Not a good way to start a 12-hour shift! Especially in the winter!) 2. This summer, we had several incidents of folks who do not live in our building (and had no business being in the building) hanging out and sleeping in our front hallway, trying to get into our apartment, and at one time smearing feces on the wall directly outside our door. We called the police multiple times before talking to BHA about it. They refused to put a lock on the front door to the building, despite there having been one there when they bought it, because it was too inconvenient for them. They are INCREDIBLY unsafe landlords who seem to not care the kind of risk they're putting their tenants in. Update December 1, 2020: they FINALLY replaced our hot water heater a week or two ago. However, when they came to paint or windows a few weeks ago, they apparently painted our windows shut. I found this out when our smoke alarms started going off (due to the stove they put in years ago that has had several problems) and we were only able to open my two bedroom windows. This is a major fire hazard, on top of being a serious inconvenience.

Completely incompetent maintenance staff. They rarely fix anything properly, and are often unwilling to even try. They have policies against fixing most problems outside of normal business hours (so when things go wrong on a Friday, they won't even pretend to fix it until Monday.) They also have lots of other issues that harm tenants.

They do not care about tenants in any way shape or form. They are rude, condescending beauracrats who literally laugh at the misfortune of their tenants and only act for them if they are U.N dropoffs because the federal government pays them a couple grand a month just to house them. This is why local people who need homes and have serious financial / health issues do not get the resources they need. They import voting muscle and coddle them, while scoffing at people from the area.
