Had a good time. Snow Coach goes up to about 4000' or so, about 4 miles up the Auto Road, as it's too dangerous to go any higher and the only vehicle that does is the Snow Cat which takes the weather observatory crew up and down. It's quite bumpy and the van rattles loudly due to the tank tracks it drives in but you get used to it and it's not that bad. It's a great way to get to treeline on Mt. Washington in winter if you don't want to hike it (although you can opt to take the Snow Coach up and just snowshoe down). Our tour guide Bruce was very informative on the history of the Auto Road as well as the weather on Mt. Washington. We were able to get out for about 15 minutes at the turn around to standin the weather and experience the conditions before riding back down to the base. We had about 50mph winds and I'm estimating the temps at about 15° at that elevation the day we went (it was about 30° at the base) so nothing too extreme on that day (I'd say about average for that elevation). I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you like to experience wild weather!

Amazing tour! Definitely worth it. The driver was nice, knowledgeable, and drove us safely up to the highest point where the tour goes in the winter which is the treeline about 4200ft.

We had never been cc skiing before and we had an incredible time! Really beautiful trail system. Sarah taught our lesson and she was so helpful!

Questions & Answers

Can you snowshoe on the auto road if you have a G Glens snowshoe trail ticket? If so how high can you go? Thank you.

Yes. We did it last year. You can start from the bottom and go as far up as you can. We actually took the snow coach up and got out where the AT crosses the road and snowshoed down from there.

How are condition on the trails

Check greatglentrails website. They post trail conditions every day. They do a good job grooming there though
