If I could give this place 0 stars I would, what a horrible place. Decided to venture to potentially adopt and just had the worst experience. Granted there are COVID protocols, which I understand. However, never have I seen a less humane group of staff. "We close at 5". My friend and I arrived before 4pm and asked if we could see the dogs because we were looking to adopt. This rude woman simply said "do you have an appointment, it's preferred?" we did not and she then stated "we aren't doing walk ins because we are short staffed." My friend said "it says on the website appointments are preferred but not required" they were not budging. I understand that but when we are the only people there, make an exception. To make an appointment, you have to call the number to the shelter, we did that and no one will answer. We are the only two folks in the place and we are there an hour before you close. At the very least make an appointment for that day if you need something in the system. The staff made it feel like they simply could not be bothered with having one of their animals adopted. You know the ones they continuously complain that they at capacity with?? And with not allowing for walk throughs in the kennels, tells me they are trying to hide the most deplorable kennel conditions. We witnessed one of the staff taking the dogs out by the dumpsters to this "dog run" which was smaller than a bathroom with astroturf for their potty break. Not even out for 15 minutes. That is not exercise. I can only tell you that the Antioch Animal Shelter is a shelter in name only. I've seen better conditions in the dog meat industry! Rather than assist getting a dog a fur-ever home, they were more interested in leaving work by 5pm on the dot. I feel sorry for any animal that ends up there. They could have had one adopted and fees paid.

I have lived near this shelter for over 15 years and over time the customer service has gotten worse unfortunately I had to leave a kitten “where I found it” because it didn’t look young enough to take in, the attitude presented by the staff when approaching the desk is just as nasty as the facilities it self, which would explain the growing problem of Stray dogs and cats in our area, this shelter isn’t well maintained and have horrible treatment and care for their animals.

I got my first kitten here. The staff is really nice and they care for the animals. They seem to put siblings together in the same cage so that they feel more comfortable. I think that it's a great approach.

This shelter was absolutely wonderful when my boyfriend and I adopted our beautiful pitty baby from them almost a year ago. The staff was friendly and so helpful, they cat tested our dog as soon as we expressed interest in him and had us bring in our other dog before sending him home with us to ensure that they would get along. We will absolutely be going back for any future adoptions!

Yes you can...
11 dollars plus taxes
I have the same problem let me know when you get a answer
Yes
why are you being irresponsible and doing what your not supposed to be doing during school
Yes you can
I asked last week and they said "no".
If there older then 16 yes they can
The shelter does handle Guinea Pigs but you'll need to apply for an owner surrender before you can drop them off. I'd give them a call to get it started if you are unable to care for yours anymore.
You are better off reaching out to a rescue for help then a shelter.
We are not a boarding facility. We only cater to stray animals.
Is the cage large enough for the dog, is there food and water available to the animal. Is he allowed out of this cage to do his business?
You would have to contact the shelter and make an appointment. No walk ins.
Hi there Keith, we accept donations of blankets and towels (no pillows or comforters). We are doing donation drop offs by appointment, so call ahead if you want to drop a donation off. Thank you!
Yes, you have to tell them it's a stray. I have 15-20 stray cats running around my house..my neighbor who has past away was a feeder .I had to rent a trap & catch as many as we could to take them in. They took them.
Maybe if clean, not sure because of diseases could come in like parvovirus. I would wash and donate to a thrift store.
Yes, the shelter will only adopt out spayed or neutered dogs. It is included in the adoption cost.
Yes that's right Irene is right the Animal Hospital on A Street is good
I just adopted a dog from the Antioch shelter. Someone donated the shelter fee of 99. But I still paid for the nuter 140. Depending on the animal and if donations were made it could be free to 250 possibly more. Best thing to do is call or look on the web site, they say which animals have donations already on file.
I think the one that needs to be put down is you, you psychopath. What kind of person posts or even thinks this? An animal does something an animal would do and you think to murder it? You do not need to be around living things.
Check with your son's veterinarian or the county he lives in.
yes you can
Not sure but it typically depends on how long a shelter has "boarded" your animal. They may ask you pay for any vaccines and to have it spayed or neutered if it isn't already. They usually can make arrangements for that and it is low-cost.
Neuters and spays are included in the adoption fees.
