We went in July 2021 and the falls were barely a trickle but we could tell by the grasses that it definitely has a good flow when there's adequate rain or snow melt. In any case, it's a great little trail with great views.
Kenwha
This is a well built trail with many switchbacks and lots of pitch changes. There is very little shade and without the cloud cover we had, it would have been very uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this for kids under twelve. There is some decent history here as the trail terminates at the water source for locomotives that hauled timber and people down to Alamogordo. Remarkable engineering design for the times. The falls are pleasant and there is a shelter with benches to rest a spell before making your way back. We're in our 60s and did the hike in under 2 hours with some poking along the way.

This is an easy yet beautifully carved hiking trail. It only one of many in the area really. I like this one because it literally takes you through the creek in about ankle deep. There are a few waterfalls along the way. There are also several spots to set up and camp or just spend the day. As of now this area isn't maintained through state or federal funding so sometimes it can get a bit junky. Usually no more than several pieces of trash. In my opinion it's still worth the effort. It's peaceful and relaxing. A place to go if you want the privacy of your group only as there isn't a lot of traffic.
