If you’re anything like me and haven’t been here in a while is time to come back. It had been years since I’ve been here but the food is as delicious as when I used to come in the 90s. The Hollenbeck burrito (mini) still amazing topped with not just salsa but chunks of pork, or your choice of meat” the dinner plates are also great. The Chile Relleno platter is delicious served with rice beans smothered in cheese and choice of corn or flour tortillas. All this under $25 for two, a true bargain in today’s economy.

Still as delicious as it was when I was growing up in the area. While visiting this past weekend I had to stop and have a mini hollenbeck burrito. It was so good. Definitely a must when visiting LA.

Mother’s Day ritual. Huevos Rancheros and The Original Hollenbeck are always on the check. Nothing short of delicious. Capacity is low. Friendly vibe, pretty sure same people are at the counter every time I go. First time I came here was 1993, the only thing that changes is price. Not pictured, chips and salsa.

My parents grew up in east LA. They introduced us the this place. They have been coming here for 50 years Our visit didn’t disappoint. Had amazing home made Mexican meal.

It can always vary. Little or too much salt can be one. Jalapeños can be mild or hotter. One big thing, been going there since '78...our taste buds change as we get older. Eat to much hot chili, it destroys our taste buds. It has been consistent & even Manny being gone can have slight changes, like our cooking, even worst, our wife's.
@ Cheryl bender no it's not the same owners. Elena, the daughter of Manuel, and a cousin are running it, but everything is different because they cannot agree on how to run it. I have been going there since 1976 and been changing ever since Manuel passed.
It's not $10 It's called the Manual Special. Really good food though!
Yes ....
What question, Angelica?
Yes ... it has the Best Green Chile Burritos (Hollenbeck and El Manuel Especial) and Claro all the Dishes are Delicious, especially El Burrito de Machaca !!!!! Manuel Rojas was a GENIUS❤
I think it might depend on the head cook that night. I've never ordered that but so far everything is delicious.
I recently ordered on NYE and 2 cost me $84 (each one feeds 8 ppl).. well worth it
They did not ship because they would not test to see if you got to eat it fresh right on the spot
The best Mexican food ever... ;-)
I am not sure what your asking? However I don't remember seeing any other food place there I could be just walking with binders on though. Haha
No, this is in evergreen and Cesar Chavez in east Los angeles
The original hollenbeck
All their food is special. If you're asking for a reduction of cost....well you get what you pay for ...good quality.
When the owner Manuel was alive he would "offer" you a shot of tequila if he was outside and you were standing in line. He has since passed away. They don't sell tequila on the menu.
I'm pretty sure you can if you had a big party. Other than that its wait to be seated.
Should be open...opened early and serve burritos early
If you have to wait it's worth waiting for.
It is advertised 2-4 people. But that all depends on the people, one person can eat it all but it can feed 4 people. If you have it for a party and have sides you can cut it into 6 pieces. Either way well worth it.
